All Welcome
She's looking for Sadey but I'd love a @Colt if you have time!
She did not return to Kvarsheim, not yet. They needed something from her that she couldn't give — or at least, she thought she couldn't give it, and she wanted to prove herself wrong. She wanted to help others. She wanted to help Sadey, the pale wounded woman who'd called her kind.
So Reverie tracked her, from the Emberwood she discovered empty to the plains. Her scent mingled heavily with others, and when it grew fresher the blonde girl grew nervous. She'd mentioned others, in the same ominous tone Lestan had when they'd first met. But somehow Reverie felt that it meant more coming from the sharp-edged woman. She wasn't sure what to do; calling would alert them all to her presence, but Sadey hadn't seemed in any state to be wandering on her own. So she loitered some distance away, too far to see anyone as of yet, and pondered her dilemma.

prob just one post since he would not hang! <3

when the wind changed, it spat kvarsheim's scent into colt's face. for once he was alone today. the scent made him freeze. sadey had warned the gang that sanja's pack now belonged in alliance with the creek wolves. one wrong move and this wanderer would lead the others right to the camp.
it was sadey, he knew it was. the rest of them moved light and fast. she was becoming a dead weight, much as he admired her and felt affectionately; she needed to be dropped with a healer and the rest of them off.
that was why he continued north, into the teeth of the sleet and the snow that soon filled his tracks until it was like colt briggs had melted dead away.

Snow concealed the massive shape of the bear as it plodded across frigid land in search of one thing - food.

The hunger was insatiable.

The wind called a mordant note through sickly trees, leaves shed in the weight of winter upon them. The spindly arms stretched up to point at the sky in blame. But snow continued to fall, and the winds continued to howl across the whitened earth. And Heimsætur’s hunger was violent.

Lifting his head, the world eater peered through the slicing snow and sleet, blinking dark eyes against the violent chill of winter. On that wind was a familiar scent - wolf. The bear increased its pace. Prey was close and his body demanded to be fed.

Eat, eat, eat.

No one came. No wolf, at least. When Reverie saw the shape lumbering toward her across the snow, she knew immediately what it was.
It was a bear.
She huffed a laugh, thinking of Gunnar and what he'd said about bears and caches. Was there a cache somewhere around here? She didn't think so; those wolves had been in the Emberwood just a few days ago. So why was there a bear? Why was it coming toward her — why was it going so fast?
Suddenly it all became very real, and she was no longer amused. This was danger, staring her right in the face; barreling toward her at such speed that even if she turned and ran now, she wasn't certain she would escape unscathed. She didn't turn and run, though. It was just like it had been with the fire, the one that had killed Rose. Death was reaching for her, and all she could do was stand and stare into its unwavering gaze.

Eat, eat, eat, eat…

Each heavy thudding fall of paw against snow brought the bear closer. The wolf gazed at him with an expression he could not read. The World Eater had no time to decipher the emotions of such whelps.

The scent of her meat made him mad with hunger. This wolf did not turn to flee, like the others had. This wolf stared at him with wide eyes. Heimsætur was content in his belief that this beast had accepted its fate and would wait patiently for his strike to fall on its body. This slowed the confident gait of the bear until it plodded up to where the wolf was. The World Eater’s dark eyes devoured the shape of her body in its stare.

A massive paw was raised and swung down at the wolf. Claws like razors waited to meet their mark.

Run Forrest run
Ophelia, you need to run.
No, no, she couldn't, couldn't move couldn't think couldn't —
Death reached for her with terrible claws, but she saw only his eyes. Dark, fathomless eyes.
OPHELIA, RUN!
She flinched at the very last moment, and the blow which might have ended her life instead tore through her shoulder.
Oh. It felt warm. She stumbled back several steps, caught by the force of the strike. For a moment she could only look at the bear, then at her shoulder. Oh; there was blood, so much blood and she needed to move she needed to run OPHELIA RUN
She ran; she didn't know where. To Kvarsheim, to @Bjarna, to @Lestan or even @Turmeric — anywhere, anywhere away from here. Anywhere to get away from the fire.

Satisfaction filled him as the scent of blood reached his nose. The World Eater could feel the hunger pushing him toward her.

The wolf was swift, though. It turned moments after it had been struck and began to run. The blood from the wound left a fine trail in the snow. The World Eater followed it hungrily. His paws sunk into the cold winter blanket until they found earth, pushing him forward.

Even with her injury, the wolf was gaining speed and putting space between herself and the monster that threatened her life.

Powerplaying a bit based on what we agreed on to get this wrapped <3
She was always just a little too late. Reverie ran, but the bear pursued like a storm rolling overhead. In only a few panicked heartbeats it was bearing down on her again. She hardly felt the second blow, but she felt the warmth.
And then it all went blurry. Later, she wouldn't remember how she got away. Only that she had.
