Hydra's interest in her siblings was primarily for one objective: find which was worthy. Vela was only now becoming a wolf Hydra determined was not a waste due to her newfound interest in protecting. The interest was born in thanks to her dependency on their father, which Hydra also had not missed, astute and observant as she was. Hydra could appreciate her for her efforts and her contributions now, at least. But given her will was not her own but born of their fathers, Hydra did not even think of her for her objective.

It was all for the better, at least for Vela. Hydra's will was entirely her own. It could not be bent, nor broken, nor swayed by the opinion or thought of others. She sought to be the best not for others, but for herself. And she was a wolf that could never be satisfied.

There was Jarilo, who was proving his own loyalty by the day. Hydra had a preference for him, not that any would know it; she appeared aloof and disinterested at best, though she would always be willing to engage him. There was a certain sort of love within her for all of her family, but approval? That was difficult to achieve.

Pausing before the den, Hydra surveyed her surroundings and noted that not a cub was outdoors yet. Looking to the sky, she recalled the hour to be an early one—and so Hydra moved toward the brush beside the mouth of the den, obscured by shadow, and quietly moseyed her way into it, crouching low and licking her chops, each inhale-exhale muffled by the branch before her lips.
I'll find that you'll find that I'm lethal
