All Welcome
as per this thread, sadey & colt have chosen a huge fallen log and excavated the cave system underneath. there is work to be done but unless something changes IC, this can be considered the first formal camp of the gang :D bees, u can join now or wait till their joining thread is done if u prefer!

colt would have preferred the bracken woods, but their thorny nature and the forbidding wall of stone at its back offered little comfort. sadey had been right to choose the red forest.
it was in view of the river, with the ability to get gone if the pack returned. and if not, that was their water source. no other groups lived near them that he could see.
having collected @Indra III and @Reno, colt joined @Diesel and introduced the three of them to one another. it was a short journey to find @Sadey.
reno set off on patrol. colt regarded the other three. "sadey'n reno knows camp protocol. but the rest of yall do not. first up, whatever yew bring into the camp is shared. don't wanna share? keep it to yerself. secondly, we all take turns on patrol, on sentry, an' on huntin'. thirdwise, no marks an' no raids alone. take at least one other an' don't lead them back here."
he spat birchbark into the dirt. "any questions?"

nSadey didn't say anything just moved about teh small camp they had made. Splitting up caches, and medicinal places. Whilst excavating more places to sleep. There was a sense of purpose to her busy work. She'd have this place in tip top shape soon enough.

She nodded along with Briggs. Knowing his words full enough. He brought the strange wrinkly creature and the red she wolf into the fold, they would learn to do what was needed done, and tending too.

the fat, red creature with the melting face was a sight indra could barely fathom. it was perhaps the ugliest creature she had ever seen, so she took to not looking directly at it; colt had introduced them, and the creature slurred their name - gun, or somesuch - to which indra grumbled, redbird, and was done with it.
once the loud woman arrived indra grew tense.
she waited for some eruption to take place after colt's decree, but sadey was silent. she seemed displeased, but that might've been her default state. indra had nothing to ask or add, and looked around those gathered for signs of compromise or refusal; at the same time, she drifted closer to colt.

her eyes were all over the women.

the older was of that sturdy, small sort, near the mastiff's size. real looker, nice in the face, if a bit plain in fur.

other was more interesting. redhead with a white ear. taller, but there was something stirringly adolescent about her.

it took a few moments to unlatched her gaze when tar-snout got to talking.

gun licked her chops in lieu of responding. she was a shit hunter, but could take down anything of size. speaking of...

"anyone uh hor a grouhie?" she smiled with an open mouth at the three - a wrinkle twitching when reddie got near the male - tongue lolling out the ruined side. "there'sh deer here. hig onesh."

"a group hunt sounds real fine, gun," colt purred encouragingly. he wanted to stay where he was, in red's closeness. but this was an opportunity to prove himself as worthy of their leadership.
especially sadey.
"why don't yew show me where these are," he offered the canine. "red, go find reno an' tell him we're on the hunt." the man had gone southwest. he nodded to her. this would be good.
his eyes lingered on her pale ear and then briggs had swung around to join gun. "lead on, madame," he snarked.

The red beast was horrifying to look upon, and she kept staring. IT gave Sadey a case of prickle fur and she wanted to snarl and rage, but there were more important things to be done, after all. No one else was going to step into the role of making this place a home. So it came to her.

Sadey eyed them all. Then rolled her eyes so hard it hurt at Colt's simpering. She half gagged to herself. Ole Colt still up to his tricks. She didn't quite understand how those girls always fell for it. They must be addled, only thing she could think.

Though she did add. Deer pelts would be nice for dens.

Sadey was partial to soft things, pretty things sometimes too, but softness always one out for the she wolf.

I'll join ya when you get one in your sights. Give me a call. Until then these dens needed fixing and borders need made.

Indra was instructed to find Reno, which put a grim look upon her face. She didn't dislike the quiet man (in fact she preferred him so far to Sadey or the ugly melted-face that had joined them), but if she was off hunting the man down then she wasn't participating in the group hunt.
She knew not to say anything to undermine Colt, whose eyes she could feel.
With a small huff Indra moved off, stalking after Reno's trail so that she could suss out where he went.

gun grinned. whipping her tail in a "come along" gesture to the man, she bounded off east.

the underbrush shook from her indelicate advancement.

in a clearing, an old buck had gathered his herd. does and yearlings grazed amids deep green grasses, at ease now that the local pack had dispersed.

gun crawled up to the treeline, tail wagging with eagerness. in a hushed voice she spoke to tar-snout out the corner of her mouth.

"you shee anything good?"

colt raced along with her. he nipped gun's flank and then pressed into place alongside her. his scarlet eyes scanned the herd.
"yearlin' over there, looks like coyotes tried t'take him." he motioned to a young animal at the center of the herd, which moved well enough but bore fresh bitemarks in one haunch.
that one could probably still flee. he hmmed and looked harder. "old doe there, lyin' down." and her back was to them.

Sadey followed behind them, after she had finished what she had done. Their call never came so with grumbling voice she followed their trail, though she was smart enough to grow quiet as they neared a herd.

She eyed the deer and frowned. ::Well there's three of us? Could we take two down?

She wasn't certain if they could, but she'd be willing to bet if they chose different size mash ups, they could. But perhaps not. She wasn't an avid hunter of large game, preferring the small that she could over power quickly.

the doe was bigger. seemed simple to her.

"let'sh get that hne." gun snorted.

"i can take it down, hat i'll need your exhhertishe." she side-eyed the man. the mastiff didn't mention her faults, how she couldn't run neither fast nor long.

but she flexed her back muscles, and snapped her jaws.

sadey arrived and their odds went up. "unlikely fer two. they'll scatter. best to grab the doe." he licked his jaws.
"right then, gun. why don't yew get into position? sadey'n i will run her over. then yew put her down."
he grinned at them both, then slunk right, hoping to weave closer before he gave the signal for sadey to run with him.

As years before. Sadey went into a downright position, body ready to hunt with the gang. She tilted down head and waited, watched. Eyes on the doe and then Colt. he'd signal. She knew his signals good enough to know what he wanted and needed for hunting. She shook her head.

briggs waited until he spotted the flies around her flicking ears before he flung his tail high. sadey would begin her run. he started his. the doe leapt up more smoothly than he had expected, and he swore under his breath.
colt leapt for her shoulder and dragged her sideways, aiming her frantic path toward gun before he let her go for the chase.

Sadey was off like a barrel racer. Small lean limbs moving her faster than most would reckon she could go. She leapt and snapped and snarled at the creature from the other side caging it in so that it went in the way of Gun.

She released and circled, her voice carrying as she chased the beast. As they neared GUn She peeled off, to let the girl have her moment of glory.

bees u can go next :D

the clearing was short. the three bore down on @Gun's lurking-place quickly. when the doe veered his direction, trying to change course, colt drove her back toward sadey.
she was bleeding from a half-dozen punctures and thoroughly terrified as she pounded toward what she believed was the clearing's exit.
the other deer split in all directions.

crouched licking jaws tail wagging- the mastiff felt some ancestral neurons fire off in the back of her brain.

gun had made herself flat, hidden by low-reaching branches, and so when the doe leapt into the forest for escape, all the dog needed do was jump up.

and bite.

( albeit these days dulled in favor of pet appeal, dogue de bordeaux still possess one of the most powerful bites amongst the dog breeds, up there with the german and bully breeds. and gun, with a backyard breeder pedigree, boasted a particularly nasty set of jaws that many a manly pair of hands had struggled in vain to pry open, even before the rest of her body caught up to the size of her head. )

the doe was so thick with fear, it kept trying to run. stumbling trough the pine needles, tripping over the big thing latched onto its neck, trying in futility to lift its head high enough for the predator to slide off.

and gun, smiling around its jugular, thought she made quite a handsome necklace.

Sadey stared with a horrified sort of awe. Like where in the holy hellfire did Briggs find these, these creatures......she shook her head, made a soft clucking noise, but then ran after the beast as it continued to run despite that it had a frightening beast of a thing hanging off of it like some unnatural growth.

She looked To Colt to see where he would veer and she'd go the other way. Not wanting to mess up the thing the all had going. They would eat well if they were successful. She briefly thought of how thin Red looked.

"gawdamn!" colt shouted in admiration. he pounded alongside the beast, listening to it wheeze in shock and pain, bleating hoarsely under gun's heavy, unending bite.
the old doe staggered, then knelt.
she tried to claw herself up with sharp hooves, but was unable, and sank to her knees, unable to catch any breath. colt soared in to hold her as gun finished the job.

it did not go quick, it did not go peaceful.

the doe had its windpipe crushed, the wolves keeping it in place as the dog did it in, 'till it choked on own blood. gun felt it grow heavier in her jaws, the pulse quicken to a drumming, then weaken to nothing, the noises it tried to make becoming a gurgled whistle.

when the mastiff let go, the catch still clung to a cheese slice of life. that, too, was seeping out quick over the needles and moss.

gun turned to the pair, licking her bloodied chops. she grinned in a goofy way.

"not 'ad, ey?"

Sadey felt a might bad for the creatures suffering, it was a peaceful thing, but it would fill their bellies so she wasn't too concerned after that.

She smiled and gave a guffaw. Not bad at all.

can be my last post! <3

"yew take first bits, gun." colt's tail cut through the air in pleasure. he glanced toward sadey. the mastiff had been a great addition to the gang, and now they'd all eat good.
before he settled to take his portion, the man would call for @Indra III, ensuring she too had a seat at the bloodstained table.

she came when called, leaving @Reno wherever she'd found him.

if he came too, he came; but she didn't care to be an escort.

the man seemed pleased enough to do things in his own time, and in a quiet way, which indra did appreciate; she'd found some solace as she'd trekked away from the hunting group — and upon returning, was surprised, and a bit jealous, by their success.

she eyed colt, and the ugly new addition, but didn't draw too close.

"hell, ih you inshisht~" gun cackled, pretty damn proud of herself.

lil' red came in as gun was tearing into the flank, pulling a long strip of flesh. when their eyes met, the mastiff wiggled her brows at the girl. sure seemed like between the other chick - fuck, what was her name? - and ol' tar-snout, lil' red could use a more balancing, butch presence in her environment.

in fact, when gun tore off that slice, she tossed it over to the ginger she-wolf.

"eat!" she barked, sitting herself down into the gore-mucky pinetrash. "need'a get sho' 'eat on thoshe hones!" gun guffawed, before herself getting into the meat.
