Etienne Did not know all these wolves, but he had thought he had seen his mother @Chacal, but there were so many and he had no time to find them. Keeping his little niece close to him. He would not lose Suzu's daughter @Caliste. No sir.

Come wit' me little one. We go meet wolves, yes.

Though it made him uneasy, he was willing to do what he must for the pack and to make sure allies and friends were made. This would serve his niece at the very least well. He thought he had seen his sister @Chani too, but he could be wrong.

So putting his nose to the ground. Keeping Caliste in sight he went seeeking and mingling.

congrats on 1k eti posts! <333

chani had seen him! and she came now, dashing close, squeezing between other wolves, pushing if things came to it; "eti!" chani cried, the ivy crown falling apart and askew over one eye.
she was connected to her brother by way of their family, even if the time spent together had not been long. she found him with a pup, the sight of which struck a chord in the girl.
she felt as if she knew them both. chani had not heard what happened between suzu and their mother and their aunt; she did not know that this child shared blood with her. but she sensed it.
"maman is here," chani murmured to etienne. "an' val, an' sobeille, an' lucette, jadou, shadess, lafayette, elosie, jean-heron, roux, an' cherie." her eyes danced. "we be camped up near de rocks, dat way."

OOf didn't even realize. Thank you <3

Etienne heard his name called and masked face lifted and golden eyes turned towards the noise. He pulled Caliste just a little closer and relaxed as he saw his sister. A small smile lifted up the shadows of his face.

Bonjou Sè!

He leaned to greet her. Nudge her precious face. A small smile. He listened as she listed all these names. Of those he cared for and loved.

I must be findin' dem den. Is you excited?

They had embraced briefly in the settling of the camps- but in all the excitement, she’d eventually lost sight of her son who belonged, now, to another pack. Amid the scent of his own pelt, now changed by freshwater and saltless air, was the scent of Arric- and she realized with a burn in her cheeks that it was entirely possible that Etienne and Suzu, by some stroke of chance, had ended up living with the freshwater man.

She sought him out again, carefully- not wanting to cross the man’s path lest he seek retribution for the flogging that Mireille had given him. But rather than finding the gigantic man, she found first his daughter- one of two girls they had created together- and her son, and-

She’d nearly begun jogging when she saw Chani with Etienne, so she could embrace both of her children and squeeze them together against her chest, but then she saw the very small, pale child at Etienne’s side.

Her stride faltered and she felt her eyes well with tears. As much as she wanted to grab her son and hold him close, she did not want to spook the darling little girl who made her heart beat wildly.

She attempted to speak, but all that came out was a wavering whimper. She’d elected not to speak recently, but her emotions simmered so wildly within her that her voice fled from her like a hare coursing from a hound. There was a lift at the end of her stammered vocalization- a plea to be introduced to who she hoped was a granddaughter of hers.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

can be a cameo! <3

it was also so much! scary with all these strangers ambling 'round but beneath that survival instinct of fear beats a thrill like a second heartbeat. she stays close to her uncle because he has asked it of her, because she could easily get lost.

eyes wild with excitement studies the women that approach. she does not know them and yet there is something about their presences that she finds comforting even before she watches her uncle greet them with such warmth.

blood speaks to blood, after all.

her breath catches in her throat with thinly veiled excitement, trying desperately to look at everything and everyone now and all at once. this was the adventure she'd wanted! words brim behind her teeth but she bites them back, almost afraid to break the spell of enchantment that has fallen over her.

who was she?
i know her. i know her!
"very!" she exulted with great swinging sweeps of her tail, grinning beautifully at the pup. maman arrived then, and chani felt the anticipation in the tanzanite fire her own, though she did not quite understand the tears she almost sensed in her mother.
it was a moment of transition. "eti," the sea-girl began with a laugh, "who be wid you today?"
blood spoke to blood. she tried not to stare.

Etienne smiled as both his sister and then his mother arrived. He greeted his mother, with a gentle sound. Pressing Caliste to his side while he reached out with another paw to embrace Chacal.

Dis be Caliste. 'er be one of Suzu's girls. 'er as two girls, and two boys. Leonore, Caliste, Requin, and Saturin.

Etienne bent his head down towards the little neice of his. Caliste dis be your auntie Chani and your granme Chacal. Dis be your mama and I's sister and our mama.

He looked at his mother. Come closer Manman.

Caliste.

A mountain of pearls would not have seemed as beautiful to Chacal as the news that she had four beautiful, healthy grandchildren. The little one here boasted beauty that promised to blossom as it had in each of her relatives. Chani here was made an auntie for the first time- and Chacal thought her daughter blossomed all the more to see the young child at her brother’s side.

She was introduced and invited closer, wishing she had a song she could sing for the young girl. In her mind she could hear the notes of the melody that would be her name; unique, among all those she had ever spoken.

She hummed the three-note melody to the child, so she might hear how Chacal could address her. She lowered her chin so the girl could approach, and greet her grandmother for the first time if she felt comfortable leaving her uncle’s side.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

caliste.
her mother's emotions seemed to become alive in that moment, swirling around chani with eddies of a maternal power she was not yet ready to understand.
maman did not need to speak to proclaim her love and adoration for this child and for the others. "beautiful names," chani murmured, beaming toward the little girl. "you met me firs'! so know i be de coolest auntie of dem all," the young woman declared.
the only thing missing was suzu's presence, but she wanted only to see how her little niece regarded them, these wolves she had only just met.

auntie chani and granme chacal.

purple-blue gaze, like a lilac that couldn't make up it's mind which color it wished to be yet, stare at the women before her and feel a wave of comfort. of yearning for something she did not tangibly understand yet. a siren's call to a home that she knew in the marrow of her bones, in the song of her soul but was too young to decipher.

boldly, she moved away from etienne's side to greet them true; chacal first and then chani.

bonjou! caliste offers them upon a small giggle, tail wagging as she looks up at the two women with awe.

Etienne's heart tightened in his chest at his mother and little sisters adoration of one of Suzu's children. He knew when they met the others they'd be just as pleased and happy.

And a smattering of tears lit up the gold of his eyes at the soft hum of his mother. And in his head his own melody played as his mother had given. How he loved her so.

He wished to curl up in the circle of her arms even as an adult and bigger. He knew he'd never grow to old for his mother's love. He sought it out like a siren to the sea. But for now he watched in silent happiness as family met. And catalogs away ever interaction and facial expression to share with Suzu when he got back.
