"@Scarab!" erzulie shrieked above the din of a gathering storm that hung above the ocean. the ground moved, yawned beneath her. @Clementine; @Reyes — she cried in desperation for them too. the thud of stone upon stone; the seabirds screaming in the grey sky above her
erzulie's stomach reeled, but she refused to be weak, not now, not now. again she shouted for her children, all she cared for in rusalka, and then she would take them away, away, away where the sea could not follow.
under her, the earth heaved and she began to weep in short bursts as she broke her voice upon the names of her young ones.

Where was his mother?
His brother - sisters
The sea was more alive than ever before.
It bit the air, swept across a once-safe harbor, so eager to grab at anything that passed - and here was the boy. Reyes was scrambling; he couldn't find anyone and the dirt beneath his paws was just as adamant to take a bite of him.
He tripped over his own paws as he dove for the safety of the caves but then there came a familiar voice piercing through the chaos, and Reyes changed his heading. As he stumbled upon Erzulie he shouted triumphantly, but silenced himself as the earth shook violently underfoot and burrowed in to the fur of her haunch, frightened.

gulls wheeled on soaring updrafts, pale specks against what was a deepening and darkly lit sky. Raleska spared their presence a glance before heading across the strand, a feeling of dread in her heart.
She had just come from the Grotto; is subterranean depths had been sundered by the frothy mouth of the sea — Ankyra was safe no longer.

Erzulie! The girl called above the storm, catching stride with Reyes as he bolted towards Erzulie’s side. Just then another snarl rattled the earth, shaking Raleska to her core. Eyes wide in panic, she looked to her packmate, voice barely audible over the grim storm.
The Grotto is flooded! It isn’t safe here anymore. Where is everybody?!
all of which makes me anxious,
at times unbearably so.
at times unbearably so.

"i do not know!" erzulie cried helplessly. here were nieve, marisol, reyes — clementine, scarab, where were they? raleska she cared for but not more than her own brood, and she nosed her son with a desperate nudge. "we be leavin'," the harlot declared to the daughter of the seawitch. "now."
lips trembled; she knew her little wanderer loved the grotto, and would not think of him floating helplessly in seawater. the others she must get to safety. then, and only then, could she return.
"come," erzulie uttered to her children; she gave raleska one look before leading her children in the direction of the inland borders and beyond the reach of the sea she had once loved.

the sea was more beast than inanimate, now; it grabbed at the shore with desperate hands, making as if it meant to drag itself onto land. she watched it, entranced in her terror, watching the waves spin patterns and drum beats against the stone she'd never before encountered. her mother's call comes, and as if in answer, the sea breaches the high rocky point she'd huddled upon, sea-spray dousing her and the rock, and then the sudden pull of the ocean around her hocks as it drags small pebbles and plants into the sea.
she plants herself in the rock, tail curled and muzzle stretched in a fearful snarl, and as soon as the ocean's back where it belongs she flies toward her mother's call, arriving a moment before her mother's instruction and tagging on the rear of the group, casting a glance at Raleska before moving to follow her mother and siblings.

Erzulie knew little more than Raleska; the news stung at the Eyjolfur's heart, and a new despair settled within her stomach. Rosalyn was her friend - her mentor - and in many ways, her anchor.
Raleska had lost everything.
She had lost her father, her brothers.
She had lost her mother.
Illidan.
She had lost her home, and now..
A choked sob burst from her lips, reined quickly inwards by a steeled gasp; no, she would not cry. Rosalyn was fine, she was sure of it.. they would find her, and everything would be okay.
Stealing a final, sorrowful glance back at The Grotto (which looked a horrid sight, with frothing dark water gushing from its mouth in unnatural waves), Raleska nodded numbly, nudged at Clementine, and followed after Erzulie.
Yet not without one last howl -- a howl that barely climbed over the howling wind -- a howl for any wolves still left in Rusalka, to let them know they had no choice but to move on.
