All Welcome
gonna say for timeline purposes perhaps caracal and heda did not make it to sapphique after all! so i am sending mireille here! tagging @Caracal and @Everett for mention/greeting <3

it had been a long while since she had seen heda, too long. and now that mireille was truly sure she carried young, her lithe flanks gently blooming into a curve, she had grown restless. instinct dictated she must stay close in the coming months.
but for now, she told @Chacal and @Val she would visit the island off the coastline for a day, and bring word of their allies there. mireille found the landbridge exposed, and trotted gratefully along it until she came to the lush island where sweetharbor held its mark.
there she called out, crooning and curious, thinking with a glissade of anguish over the last time she had come here, in panic and in fear.

The howl startled Caracal awake. He sat up with a snort, completely disoriented. Where was he? He looked around groggily, though it took a couple more seconds for him to remember. He had come to the lavender field to gather some flowers and herbs for his wife. He must have fallen asleep while collecting. As a matter of fact, there were several leaves stuck to his cheek, which he brushed off as he leaped to his feet.

He needed to get back to Heda and the puppies! But wait, who had called? Caracal stood there owlishly for several beats, trying to rewind the sound in his head. But it was useless. He started making his way toward the hills, calling out to let his mate know he was en route and, in the very next breath, telling the mysterious caller to come meet him at the foot of the slope.

Since he had heard first the anguished cries, followed hours later by the joyful news of Heda’s delivery, Everett had stayed clear of the whelping den and much of the island’s center to keep watch over the shoreline while the parents cared for their young. They would both be needed, he knew, father as much as mother, and he would be needed here.

Everett frequented the hills that overlooked the land bridge, and on today’s particular route, saw the first sign of activity. He descended to meet her but could not catch her scent o’er the brine. Just a note of curiosity from her lips.

She did not seem hostile. Perhaps a friend, by the way Caracal’s voice rose next to invite her closer in.

Welcome, he greeted the fire woman, who stood like a flame between the seas, I am Everett, and this is Sweetharbor. May I escort you to Caracal? He wouldn’t have been so bold to ask if Caracal hadn’t invited her first, but he had, and this made all the difference.

caracal called out, and mireille started forward at once. and then another man joined her, speaking softly as it felt all the wolves here did. she switched her tail, emerald eyes hard in a survey of him.
surrendering her notion next, for if he was here then heda had kept him close, the obsidian approached proudly. "i be mireille, a leader in sapphique. heda be my friend," she said, voice betraying for a moment her worry for the woman of the island.

He stood at the foot of the hill, swaying a little on his own feet. Caracal blinked rapidly, trying to keep his eyes open, feeling increasingly cranky and impatient as he waited for the visitor to arrive.

He did not feel the flicker of recognition even when she spoke; if he had been there the day she had intercepted Reverie and Lestan, he might have known this was the voice of the one who had driven them from the shore.

But Everett had only heard the report from his sister second hand. Mireille was as much a stranger to him as Heda and Caracal had been, and he received her the same.

Hmm, he softly mused, ears cupping to catch the worry in her voice, despite the pride and command she carried herself with, Heda’s well, just further in with the pups. Follow me.

And he turned and trusted she would follow to the slopes Caracal had called them from.

she followed, and in time saw caracal. he was related to her, and while the relation of men to sapphique remained dubious, she was glad to see him all the same. emerald gaze flickered softly to the first man, everett, and then back to caracal, who reeked of milk and the familiar scent of pups.
the obsidian's lips smoothed into a grin; a rich laugh spiraled out before her. "is she all right?" mireille asked directly, delighted for heda.

Two figures appeared in the distance, moving closer. Caracal bit back a yawn and squinted, his ears splaying when he recognized Mireille beside Everett. He didn’t have much bandwidth to spare for her enmity today, so he decided to engage as little as possible while guiding her to his wife’s bedside.

Mireille’s laugh and smile caught him off guard. They were both rather lovely. Caracal blinked, staring at her uncomprehendingly for a few beats. He decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

She’s more than all right, he murmured, and so are th-th-they, he added, unable to stifle this yawn.

Caracal shook his head apologetically, then motioned for Mireille and Everett to follow him as he led them uphill toward the place where Heda had whelped his sons and daughter. As soon as he arrived, he placed a kiss on top of his wife’s head and slumped nearby, hoping this encounter would be stimulating enough to keep him awake.

They were quiet for most of the journey from the seaside to Caracal, and once they met the ruddy man, Everett allowed him to do the rest of the talking.

Even as they reached the deb, Everett peeled aside to give Mireille her space and time with Heda. He would wait outside the den and keep watch towards the outer shores. It would be crowded in the chamber now, and the pups would be stimulated enough with only one stranger to gawk at.

sorry for the wait! He can be skipped now unless tagged! ^^

last for me! <3

three sons! and a daughter! mireille cheekily reached to kiss heda's cheek and crooned in french over the pups. "two was not enough?" the gravid obsidian teased.
heda regaled mireille with her birth story, and wide-eyed, mireille listened. would she have so many, the young woman wondered. heda touched her stomach from time to time, and together they guessed at the number of children that might be therein.
when they parted ways, mireille informed @Caracal and @Everett of her intentions to stay for a night, fishing off the island's coast to support her friend newly made mother.
