All Welcome
all welcome, hoping for @Quennell and @Aminthe

She’d spent every last bit of her grief wailing into the waves where they crashed against a shelf of rock so loudly that even she could not hear her own voice. She timed her exhales with the rush of each wave, so her voice could be lost among the seafoam. It helped, but in the absence of her wails, she felt a hollowness sink in.

She’d have too much time to think about it later, she was sure. She’d waver from self pity to anger, sway in between the lines of yearning and regret. But now that she’s exhausted herself, she sought warmth and companionship- and went straight for the den where her youngest siblings would likely be, though with every day their mobility grew and she knew soon enough they wouldn’t be so easy to track down.

She uttered a low, chuffing noise as she approached the den, and flopped down on her side in the warmth of the sunshine, hoping one of them might be enticed to share a bit of sunlight with her.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

pups obv still welcome!! slight pp

Erzulie was elsewhere and Rosalyn had taken the duty of watching, as she often did. She enjoyed letting them play nearby, out in the sun, while she lounged and oversaw with one eye hooded satisfactorily. Occasionally she'd be drawn into their games but today they seemed set on one of their own making.

Over here, she called softly when she heard Chacal's questioning woof. It was likely unnecessary, though, because Aminthe chose that moment to let out a delighted yell as she chased her brother. Good - they could let the energy out here and actually sleep tonight, perhaps!

She would let her daughter take over here if she wanted to, but was in no hurry to leave. So she remained where she was and watched from her periphery, patiently, to see if Chacal had come to share in her company or preferred her siblings'.

tags just for growing reference/sibling awareness — please let me know if assumptions made aren't okay! <3

quennell enjoyed the company of all of his siblings. his agemate sister's was the most familiar, his brothers' the most fun and his older sisters' the most knowledgeable.

@Sobo often brought with him new objects from places quennell could not yet go. @Mireille taught him new words and names for him to remember.

chacal? well, she brought music. stories too. things that the young sea urchin always found intriguing. especially when he grew too tired for tumbles.

it was her who showed today and while he had been happy being chased by his other present sister, his course would change rapidly. eager to run right into chacal with a whipping tail behind him.

Even with her own spirits weighted, the sight of her youngest siblings charging toward her served to release some of the tension and lure her into a better mindframe. She couldn't help but smile at the look she was given the moment the kids caught sight of her. It was so easy for them, still. Surrounded by wolves they loved, given everything they needed. They didn't yet know heartache or longing. She wished she could go back to days like that. She wanted to talk to her mother about how she felt, even though in part she wanted to keep all of that to herself, and ignore the fact that she'd let herself catch feelings for someone who couldn't be as available as she needed him to be. But it was absolutely impossible for her to ignore the invitation to play.

For the sake of her siblings, she'd brush her feelings aside, and summon a cheshire grin. So as Quennel bounded toward her, she dropped into a play-bow as an invitation, and waited for him to get almost close enough to leap at her before she bounded sideways. She yipped, and began to bound away, like a deer leaping through tall grass. The pups weren't fast enough yet for a flat-out chase, so the extra exuberance she added to her step helped both slow her down, and make her all the more of a spectacle.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.

she can be skipped for a while if you like!

Rosalyn stayed where she was, content in the sun and with watching them play. It was good to see their older children participating with the younger - and it caught her, suddenly, that so many of them had missed out on this. Usually their children disappeared long before.

She stretched an ache in her shoulders, then laid her head down while still observing. She planned to spend this as a lazy day but it was nice, having company at least in part.

WUH! he would blurt as she seemed to take off at a speed supernatural to him. although running itself was not yet his forte. mainly still finding his steadiness at higher speeds on such unstable terrains.

which was why, perhaps, when he dared to give chase it did not take long for him to flop over himself.

too excited in his movements and growing legs attempting speeds not yet for them. it would certainly be a sight to see as his rear came up and over his head, sending him into a sandy tumble.

except there would be no bubble of cries or tears from him. only loud laughter as he discovered the comedy of physical disasters.

Her spirit was charmed into a joyful nature as she bounced around like a sprightly fawn. Her brother tumbled but laughed heartily- an ode to how resilient children were in spite of their bumps and bruises. She circled back around, eyes brimming with mirth as she bounded around him twice, before she dramatically crossed her forelegs and tripped herself to the ground.

She giggled as she relaxed into the warm grass, rolling over so she could peer through the dandelions at her merry little brother. She reached out with her nose to touch the tip of it to his, before she chuckled again.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.
