Joining
the sea called. and to its arms she would go.
erzulie's tread was confident when at sunhigh she emerged on the sands near the careful markings of wolves. "gason," came her soft mutter in the butter-rich tones of the tongue taught to her by roux and by octave. the woman had dedicated herself to recalling the names of her sire and dam each day — she would not allow their memory to fade from the halls of her mind.
but now, now — oh, they do not know! — she swept her cinnamon ears forward and narrowed her mismatched eyes. the roar of the sea reverberated around erzulie. remember what lives within such places, sweet girl, octave had instructed in regards to the bottomless saltwater — and presently her croon for leadership floated into the cold air, a full-throated and sultry lilt that held smoke at its edges.

She heard the call; it was beautiful, and it's sonorous quality piqued the girl's interest about as much as the fact she didn't recognize it.  Was polite of them to ring, for sure, though it could be a charade still.

She was wary when she approached, but not hostile; she'd never been much of a guard dog type.  When she stopped a small distance away, she stood casually, generally unwilling to show dominance unless a situation required it.  More flies with honey than vinegar or some shit like that, right?    "Aye, you looking for someone?" She asked, eyeing the girl as she did so.  The other woman was lovely, but her eyes unnerved Rosalyn a bit.  She wasn't quite sure how she read her yet, so would tread carefully.

it was a woman who attended her call; half-grown but with the telltale swell of maturing curves beneath the groomed sheen of her carefully arranged pelt. ecru and fire; erzulie softened her stance, cocking one hip and smoothing herself into a more coquettish stance. letting her mint-glow gaze travel lightly over the other's wary features, the willowy she-wolf slowly swept back her spice-hued ears in a show of deference.
"i be lookin' for a home, bel tifi,"  erzulie answered in her rhythmic voice, the pristine glimmer of her teeth showing briefly in an inviting smile. a place of men, but also led by a maiden. stranger things had happened.

Cameo, ish. Tag if you interact! May reply periodically.

After the call is made, Nox can’t help the shift in her feet. She’d been heading toward the coast anyway so when her feet hit the familiar grainy feeling, she knows she’s close. Her nose flares, scenting the wind through the heavy salt in the air until she finds what she’s looking for. The familiar form of Roz holds her attention first before drifting off to the stranger, staring at her from a distance. Pale yellow eyes narrow to compensate and she slows to a stop several yards away. The wind whips around her, carrying their voices off in the other direction and her cupped ears only catch the hushed murmuring of words.

/eyes emoji - he's close enough to hear but far enough that you don't need to address him if u don't want to
The call was not missed by the yearling, and though he had been chest-deep in the waves searching for fish, he did not hesitate to break for the borders in search of the feminine figure that would belong to such a sweet sound. As the pallid corsair made his way along the shore, he caught sight of the light woman called Nox; his eyes roamed her odd shape for a moment before settling on the reddish coat of Rosalyn. It seemed his First Mate had found the caller sooner than he, but Smokestep was not bothered by this. Instead, the Captain sat back with a curling smirk and watched the russet firebrand interact with the newcomer. He would step in when needed but felt that it was wiser to observe for a few short minutes.

Unaware of the growing audience, Rosalyn's ears twisted at the unfamiliar epitaph the woman dubbed her with.  Well, no matter the meaning behind it, she'd take it.  Likely if it was rude, she'd been called worse, and if it wasn't, she would accept any compliment.

"Are ye now?" She asked, more for the slight delay the confirmation offered than anything else.  She wondered if her position left her able to offer such a thing now; after all, Raptor had gifted her entersnce, albeit with the Captain's unknown blessing beforehand.  "The Captain may have more to say to that, but you seem... traveled." She'd seen the scars on the woman within her initial examination.  She knew her way around a fight (or had been on the losing end of a few), but did she know the sea? "What strikes your fancy about our little cove?"

erzulie's eyes did not miss the pale stranger who paused in her drift toward the pair, nor the ivory ranger who settled within earshot. so. they were to have an audience. the woman lifted her chin with a smooth pride that did not detract from her submission along the salt-rimed borders, and unfurled herself to present the breadth of her chai-tea frame, the burn of her mismatched eyes.
to the other's inquiry, erzulie gave a low purl of quiet laughter. "it be a beautiful place, non?" she asked of the earth-toned girl her gaze drifting with a momentary boldness to the striking eyes. "it be a place of fierce warriors."
here her tonguetip darted to touch the side of her mouth, and now erzulie gazed beyond the wolfess' dark shoulder at the fierce-looking creature who observed. "and men." her eyes found the sable features of her gentle interrogator once more. "that be what strikes m'fancy."

mkay feel free to skip me for the next few rounds (if i'm not quick enough) and tag when acceptance comes?

The pallid corsair listened with swiveled ears as the two women spoke. Nox seemed only to stand by as a guard, keeping a watchful eye on the pair, so he let her be with little more than a curling smirk and a playful glint in the fire of his crimson optic. Roz was handling the newcomer well enough; better than he knew Sandpiper would have, which frustrated him to admit even to himself. He did not see the firebrand getting as easily roused as his sister would have, which afforded them some comfort areas with strangers.

More than this, the pale yearling found himself entranced by the caramel dusted woman who had found their lands and who spoke in such a sweet tongue. She had found purchase in all his attention, which wasn’t saying much for his ability to keep a level head. Still, Smokestep hung back and allowed Roz to complete her questions; he only planned to draw closer when it had fallen on them to accept her.

And men, She said with a glance behind, and when Rosalyn followed, she saw the subject of the intentions. The urge to scowl rose up, and internally she mocked the reasoning.  Who did this girl think she was, so blatantly eyeing the men as if she was already readily accepted?  Careful to not let her unreasonable ire show, she turned back, resentment still settled in the pit of her stomach.  she was beautiful.

"Aye.  Are ye accustomed to life on the shore? Skilled in the hunting and navigating the waves?"  It wasn't a question she had asked others, but she was probing a bit deeper now, secretly hoping she'd trip up and Roz could send her running.

the girl's face was unchanged, but erzulie wondered vaguely if her blatant show of interest toward the pale man who watched was irksome. many women had found in themselves the same opinion of the accented she-wolf, and what need did erzulie have to disprove the concept of herself as a threat? in truth, she wished none of the dubious treasures other females sought to clasp to their breasts. this one was young, but with time she too would learn the wine-dark secrets granted to all women.
"da sea is a dark mistress, and one wid which i am not well acquainted, pretty girl," erzulie admitted easily, repeating her earlier hope for charm in the common tongue. her focus was given completely to the darkfurred young wolfess — the man who had not yet come closer was quite forgotten.
her mint-fire eyes traced the lines of the young woman's features until she had all but drunk in the sable countenance, her eyes half-lidded and mouth sly beneath iher throat's silk-stone texture. "i have de skills o'rangin', far an' wide, an' i can defend dese bordas, woman. i promise you dat." her lips budded with a smile that belonged completely to the girl, and here she dropped the tone of her voice to one of conspiracy. "dere is a t'ird ting, should you like to hear it."

hey let me just be awkward and in the background - don't mind me
Roz was doing exceptionally well, and Smokestep found that he was pleased with her overall demeanor with the stranger. In truth, the pallid brute was far more wrapped up in the sweet accent on the woman; he had only ever heard something similar once in his life, and it had been from the eldest Witchdoctor of Warsaw. Some part of him thought she had the potential of being a spy. That she was sent to his claim by his terrifying father so that Skellige would know of his downfalls and disobedience. There was a larger majority that simply thought she was stunning, and the Captain felt as though he was more than willing to take the risk on her. The last comment from the woman could not be heard from where he sat, so the pirate waited for Roz to finish.

quickie con post!!

For some reason Rosalyn got the distinct, paranoid sense that the other woman was speaking down in a tone to her, likely due to the already on edge tenor of her perception so far.  She was gorgeous, honestly a bit of Rosalyn's type too, and spoke with a worldly accent and tone that put the woman in the awkward position between jealousy and admiration.  Shit.

She could take no fault with anything said, however, and nodded.  Not many were well acquainted with the sea, and those who thought they were ended up dead.  It was a good answer.

"I'd hear it," she said finally, though her decision was pretty much made.  Damn if she wasn't intrigued.

erzulie knew the girl would not be able to resist — few did, and for that she was grateful. seeking to close the small distance between them. erzulie's ears cupped her fine-boned skull and she dropped her posture somewhat, in an elegant show of submission she had practiced until it was a smooth series of rolling motions.
extending her muzzle, risking a cautionary snap to its ecru bridge, erzulie wet her lips contemplatively and once more glanced into the honey-burnished eyes, the way that the seawind feathered soft fingertips through the sand-barred coat. "i be a harlot, ti malfini mwen."  here she paused to drink in the first bud of awareness on the girl's face, seeking another, another, all the seawolf would give before she went on. "dere be no shame in it; i enjoy what it is that i do. an' men," erzulie continued, her tone remaining only for the seashell curvatures of the dark maiden's ears, "men are restless, woman. let me patrol dese bordas an' quell dese hot tempas."
erzulie was quiet for a moment, closing her eyes for the breadth of a heartbeat, a smile wreathing her lips when she fixed her expression on the other once more. the world, at least for a moment, had narrowed to only the pair of them. "i am not only for dem," she finished with a fleeting arch of her brow. having sought to enthrall, erzulie now stepped back, her voice raising to the pale man's earshot. "have we got a bargain, den?"

Mm.  Of all the words, this was not what Rosalyn expected to hear, but she was not shocked.  Merely surprised.  This had been a role of hers as well, for a time, though her title had been gifted not of her own choice.  And it wasn't a position she had cherished long.

She dipped her head in return, a show of respect; the title suited her well, if she bore it happily, and it was clear she was practiced.  That and her clear battle experience spoke of a story not told; but perhaps like Roz it was one she would rather keep silent for now.  A spark of interest lit in her at the implication of her sultry and quiet words, and she gave her first small, genuine smile.... perhaps.  But the final call was a glance to Smokestep, and Rosalyn too turned, giving a small nod.  Hopefully he would be in agreement.

there was something lingering beneath the controlled expression of the girl — erzulie wanted to believe it to be true. already titillated at what she had wrought here, and with a triumphant glimmering in her spirit at gleaning a genuine smile from the dark girl, the harlot turned her gaze upon the pale ranger.
it was him she regarded with the focus of her bearing, but did not keep herself from glancing for a long second at the she-wolf again, studying the sable profile. in the next moment, however, erzulie swept her cinnamon plume along her hocks and curved her weight to one hip, awaiting whatever words might come. her mint-glow stare was bright with piqued interest against the dark honey of her mask; wanton women were not a commodity many could afford.

Not long after her arrival, Smokestep steps up and closes in one the situation. He gets closer than she chooses to for the moment and watches, looking back to the pair of women as they spoke. Short ears cup forward as if she can hear their words from where she stands but all she gets is the crashing waves and the wind whipping around her.

After a bit of the exchange, and Roz glancing back to their captain, she finds she’s much more curious now. She begins to move her feet and close the distance, rounding out around Smokestep and coming up to his side, but behind him, ears alert for a glimpse of what’s going on.

The pallid yearling watched as the woman lifted her gaze to him, and he met it with a curled lip and a shimmer in the depths of his mismatched gaze. She seemed as though she would suit the place well enough, and while he knew that she would have a great deal to learn, Smokestep would be eager to begin teaching her. Roz too turned her head around to him with a nod, offering her input, and the pirate stirred from his position at last so that he could close the space between them and meet the newcomer. The presence of Nox bolsters him some, and he offers her a nod and smile of gratitude that she would meet calls on their borders.

“Welcome to the crew, lass,” he offered her with a wink and a flag of his tail. With that, the Captain turned from them and disappeared into the grove of trees. In a flash of white, the marauder vanished and waited for their newest Swab to find him in her own time.

oh it me ^^; last one from my part! Unless she needs to respond <3

Smokestep took her meaning and accepted, much to Rosalyn's pleasure.  Despite her mixed feelings, ones that were echoed by varying degrees to almost all of the women (and some of the men, most likely) of the pack, it signaled something more; that the captain was beginning to perhaps see the value in her presence here.  (Not that he didn't already, but she doubted, and the confirmation was pretty nice).

He left fairly abruptly, and she gave a sideways smile.  "Guess I'll show you the ropes.  Just one rule here; loyalty, no matter what.  He says leaving means death, which... well.  Guess I wouldn't want to test it less you gotta."  She sought a response, then signaled to follow, intending to give a fairly brief overview of the territory before heading off to allow her time to settle herself.

last for me!<3

at last the pale man drew near; erzulie noted the hold of his jaw and the smoke of his throat as he welcomed her. dipping her muzzle in a small bow, the harlot returned her attention to the she-wolf, her smile one edged in vague relief. "i plan to settle heah," erzulie declared in a gentle voice, letting out her breath in a sigh.
following her leader into the sea-washed air of the territory, erzulie listened raptly to what was said, distracted only for a moment by the raucuous cry of a wheeling seabird.

Her new proximity makes it easy to hear. The stranger is allowed. Nox’s eyes narrow, scrutinizing her a moment as Roz speaks. Her head lifts—not to compare against the two leaders—but that she has some seniority of the other swab. Not for long, she things, glancing to Smokestep that is appreciative of her efforts. A grin is returned, but quickly placed back on the female as her expression falls blank and makes sure everything is all right before she relaxes completely.
