Zahir is a good distance from the border! Potential joining thread but I'm not certain, so we'll see how this thread goes! @Sakina and @Reyson sort of mentioned. Also tagging @Germanicus for visibility!

Zahir had wandered from the taiga, deciding to see what she could. The mountains had called to her, and she wandered them now. From above, she could see an idyllic valley, and beyond that, a red canyon. Familiar scents came her way, and Zahir followed them. They led towards the canyon.

She had come upon a border. Zahir gave pause, then settled a short distance away. She was trying to place the scents, but could not. Bloodred eyes peered into the canyon, a frown settling on her muzzle. It looked dry and warm, much unlike the taiga.

Being vague, because i'm not sure how Sakina sleeps lol

Reyson had rolled away from @Sakina in the early morning. Unsure if he would wake him or not. He lumbered towards the borders. He would make a patrol and then maybe go hunting, or perhaps he could entice two tone into another spar. He wanted to test what he had learned from him. And see how litle two tone was learning too.

Though his plans quickly left his head, when he saw a wolf near their borders. He didn't at first recognize them. His tail slid up over his back and he took a more defensive position. He slowly moved towards the. He fast realized who they were, though his stance lessened a bit, it was still clear who he was and where he was.

Zahir. He spoke quietly, eyes assessing, studying. Did the deer last you?

germanicus was distracted.

he schooled his features as he came upon reyson and a stranger. his soldier seemed rather familiar with the other.

the imperator stepped forward. "i am germanicus. it seems mereo is not unknown to you," he observed dryly.

A male was the first to approach, tail held high over his back. She recognized him before he did her, and she smirked slyly at him as he greeted her. "It did. But the taiga grew dull."

And another approached, another male. He introduced himself, and Zahir simply said, "Zahir." A glance to Reyson, and she told Germanicus, "He helped me with a hunt some time ago. But I was just passing through."

Reyson gave a small smile. At her words, but before he could say anything else, his Imperator, came to attend the call. He dipped his muzzle to both, and then stood like a silent shadow, awaiting.

Reyson had been busy hunting. Surprising even himself at the amount of game he ahd caught with help in the last few weeks.

"i see." he saw also that reyson had left the good mark of mereo in this one's favour. "passing through or did you mean to join him?" germanicus asked plainly of the newcomer.

he did not think that she meant passage through the canyon but prepared for that possibility.

At Germanicus' words, Zahir looked once more to Reyson. They were not friends — Zahir was not certain she had any — but he had helped her. She looked back to Germanicus, saying slowly, "I... have not thought about joining any packs." She had been alone for some time. "Do you have need of a hunter?"

Reyson met her gaze with one of his own. There was only neutrality there. He didn't consider her a friend either. A comrade in hunting perhaps. But nothing more as of yet.

This was her decision. He would be glad to see the ranks grow, but if it were not something she liked. He would not press his lifedtyle upon her.

"there is always a need for hunters. in what do you specialize?"

germanicus thought of the younger wolves about who might take lessons to heart.

he waited for the response.

Zahir answered promptly, albeit in a low, harsh rasp. "Small game. Tracking. Large game with assistance." Then, she shrugged and added, "I... have a taste for more than hunting." Zahir gestured broadly. "There is much to see, much to explore. I am built for scouting as well as hunting."

But Reyson had mentioned this was a place of warriors. "You have many fighters?" She did not like groups.

This would fit her well of she could handle the geoups. He himself was not a fan, but he managed alright.

Reyson stood stalwart. Listening, but not conversing. He would talk after or if needed.

an auxillary then.

"we have many soldiers as well as a hierarchy and tiered officers, all in latin. you will learn as you go, but you will room together, spar together, and live together in the canyon."

germanicus was honest. he wanted those who could work beside others. skilled lone wolves often honed their trade as a necessity that kept them self-sufficient outside of a pack.

Zahir debated Germanicus' words, a frown tugged at her muzzle, brows coming together in thought. "I am uncertain," she answered bluntly, honestly. "But... perhaps I will try." She had been on her own for quite some time now, and life could be hard for a loner. Maybe this would be good for her.

Reyson gave one dip of his muzzle to the girl. As if saying it's okay, better to try than not. He would show her ehat he could if she was unused to this life.

germanicus nodded. "effort is the barest requirement." if she tried, then he would see it.

"i will accept you as an auxillary. a group of soldiers in your rank are called auxillia. reyson will escort you to the soldiers'-housing. choose a den. at sunup we begin our morning spars."

he gave them both a sharp look and dismissed himself.

When Germanicus left, Zahir carefully eyed Reyson. She would follow him back to the soldiers' housing and quickly choose an empty den — she did not wish to share a room if she didn't have to. Then, she'd offer the male a dip of her head and she would retreat into solitude.
