Mature Content Warning

This thread has been marked as mature. By reading and/or participating in this thread, you acknowledge that you are of age or have permission from your parents to do so.

The participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: pre estrus, still unreceptive, approach at ur own risk! <3

the next day, muskrat climbed higher. the true pinnacle of the sunspire would evade her through the sheer snow and ice, but under its head, thin paths crossed and doubled back.

hunger bit at her. she had told the creekwolves that she meant to hunt, and now she stood near the top of a mountain where she hoped men could not reach nor scent her. it did not occur to the warrior that she had only made a banner of her own fragrance.

eating snow for water, muskrat chased pika among the rock crevices for an hour, unsuccessful save for one which she devoured at once.

fire surged in her chest, her belly, between her legs. a low growl of irritation for her own flesh trickled from muskrat's throat as she gnawed on bones for their marrow.

The call had been given—Muskrat informing the creek wolves she would be hunting on the mountain, and Akavir had considered it odd for her.

Had she not intended to go with them to the bearclaw wolves to act as a messenger, above all else?

He had hunted on his own in the meantime—small game, enough to feed Mae, himself, and even a ravenous Arlette who had four puppies to nurse.

When Muskrat did not return in days time, he worried for her—irate at himself for even allowing that, given the spitfire had stampeded into his life by trying to steal from him and his family.

So he scaled the mountains—and as he began to track down the feisty she-wolf, it was with a new understanding to her fleeing—and when pale champagne eyes fell upon the fire-kissed pelt, studying her from a distance, gaze narrowed, trying to see if her leg and ankle were still well.

Though now he knew it was not a fresh injury that kept her from returning home.

once muskrat had finished the bones, she began to hunt for another among the crevices of rock.  anything, anything to distract herself from the fever which ran needle-sharp in annoyed veins.

and that annoyance deepened. she could not be sure who the dark figure was, a distance still below her, but muskrat knew that step.

why were they both here, akavir and viinturuth? perhaps she too was only a pika within the stones to them. did they feel entitled to her because she was one of theirs? had she wanted another man, would they have arrived to stop her? disgust and anger warred within her, and muskrat turned her back, abandoning her search to ascend another few thin ridges to one that was wide enough only for her own small hard feet.

hawk's-eyes burned, and muskrat too kicked a rock in akavir's direction, making sure it gathered a great speed as it clattered and bounced down the sunspire.

Kicking rocks—the clatter of her well aimed endeavor causing his gaze to study her more sharply—the distance still there—but the simmering anger still apparent in the stance and the message she sent with granite and stone.

He made sure to sidestep—dark amusement pressing to his lips. If there were scents of male suitors for her, he did not scent them—would not think of how he could feel of that.

Instead of a high road—he chose the road of antagonizing… testing the waters of his fiesty Zeta. “Just checking to make sure your bum ankle didn’t give out on you, little panther on the mountains. Y’know—since we’re supposed to be going on a little expedition here in a few days,” he called up—eyes flashing.

“Could have given me a heads up you were up to more than just hunting.”

but akavir did not go away, and muskrat dropped to her belly on the thin lip of stone. his voice carried easily through the thin air to her; the warrior flexed her paws against the ledge and snorted. "i have been hurt many times, tuta runa. always make it back."

her eyes took on a heated glitter. "leave quiet for reason. big white wolf, he come first from creek to find me. kick rock at him also. not here for men. will come back when this over. with meat."

there. now all his questions had been answered. she wanted him to go away. the creek had new pups and he with another warrior were all the way here. for her? muskrat did not like it.

she watched him, lying her chin across forepaws as she willed the mountain beneath her body to chase away the heat.

Viinturuth—it was not surprising that the lure of the she-wolf had called to his brother—and that was something he certainly wouldn’t stand in the way of if she were receptive to him.

Though, he would have also paid a pretty price to see the look on his littermate’s face at the woman kicking rocks at him, as well.

His muzzle dipped down in acquiescence—she wished him gone, he would go.

“Okay, little panther. I’ll see you at home, then.” A pause—“Stay safe.”

She dipped lower—and he turned, dark form beginning to stealthily make it down the mountain, partially expecting her to kick more rocks his way to prove her point.

muskrat did not. she sat up as his shadowed form moved down the mountain, allowing her desires to show plainly upon her scarred face for a moment. yes. she imagined it now, how akavir might drive the staining heat from her, join with muskrat upon this mountain in a collision of hard-muscled bodies.

for a moment she only drifted through several images, some of which involved both light and darkness converging pleasantly upon her, for they both were favorable choices despite her aggressive rejection.

but moments of exceeding pleasure would turn into sickness, into vomiting, into breasts that ached and a belly that eventually dominated one's entire being.

shoving away the fantasies wishing to truly take form in her mind, muskrat lay down once more, intending to force herself into sleep.

Viinturuth would keep her safe if needed. He was not needed.

That was the mantra with each step, and any potential thought of trying to settle for a third time was pushed forcefully from his mind. Any thought that if she changed her mind, she knew where to find him.

Because this was best for her. History deemed it so.
