All Welcome
Here come the crazy 90's thread titles! Bahaha. I won't apologize for this.
At two weeks to the day, the bright blues of Akavir’s eyes had opened fully. The world was fuzzy – indiscernible often times, and the dark whelp focused primarily on the comfort of his mother’s embrace, the warmth of his siblings own rowdy and squirming forms, and the sweetness of milk. Still, there was an innate desire now to press past some of these, and the boy would often times be practicing on his legs, trying to push himself up to a stand. Of course, wobbly as he was, Akavir would often times plunk firmly back down to the ground after only a few shaky seconds – that was, until, he began to take a few hesitant steps.

It was an awakening of freedom – though it came only in the form of needing to determine what this meant. And so the boy began to toddle toward the entrance of the den, the brightness of morning seeping through coaxing him, given his vision remained poor for now.

The hard chill of winter had finally passed for good and was replaced now with mild weather and new growth everywhere the eye looked. Flowers burst forth from trees and shrubs in cheerful sprays of whites, purples, and pinks, nurtured by the frequent rain showers and damp fog that settled in the Teekon Wilds this time of year. Today, though, there was not a cloud in the sky and a warm sun shone down uninhibited on the land that was practically glowing with all of the recent fresh green growth. And along with the excitement of the changing of the seasons, Clock was burning with curiousity about Durnehvirr's puppies. He knew she had delivered a few weeks ago, but he was completely ignorant when it came to newborn puppies and had no idea what to expect. So, it was on this glorious spring day that the gray male decided to loiter around the entrance to the alpha female's den. He made sure to maintain a respectable distance, not wanting to threaten the new mother, but gosh... he just had to see these new puppies. He wondered how many there were and what they would be like.

He waited for what seemed like a very long time, but there was no sound or movement from within the den. Disappointed, he flopped down on side in the sun and closed his eyes for a long nap instead. The heat of the mid morning sun was so pleasant that he soon fell asleep, and when he woke a long while later, it was to the sound of movement at the den. Lifting his head, Clock looked over in time to see the little black creature struggling mightily to the den entrance on wobbly little legs. Entranced, Clock stayed frozen in place with ears pricked attentively forward wondering what the little fellow would do. The pup was much smaller than he had imagined, and so much more frail! The tiny little eyes looked myopically out at the world, not yet able to fully perceive it with the senses. Clock's bushy tail gave a involuntary wag of happiness, stirring up the dirt where he was laying but he continued to watch in silence. He wanted to see how far the little pup would go on his own.

The pups grown considerably, and had certainly gotten more active. As their eyes had begun to open, Durnehviir found that each seemed keen to explore their new senses. She was forever having to retrieve her infants when they took notice of the hollows entrance and this time, it was Akavir who attempted to steal away from her watch.

Pulling herself onto her paws, the russet wolfess stepped carefully over her snoozing cubs and reached out to bump her ginger snout to the tufted charcoal fur of the puppy's backside as he made to peer outside. She rumbled softly to him, ears canted back slightly as she shot him a sharp look - the time to venture beyond the den would come, but it would not be until they were old enough to know better.

Lifting her proud head, Durnehviir spotted a pack-mate resting in the sunlight beyond her den. At once, her hackles pricked along her dorsal and she stared at him for some time as she tried to decipher his intention. She recognised him to be a comrade of Chusi, one who had not wronged her in anyway, and her muscles slackened slightly. Some uncertainty remained: she did not know this male well, and her immediate thought was that she did not feel comfortable introducing her offspring to him.

The Queen offered no words, but reached out a dainty forepaw to hook around her child's chest and pull him beneath her.

Lost in slumber, Viinturuth lay sprawled in their family's burrow without a care in the world. His toes and tail twitched as he dreamed - probably of nursing - and his tiny pink tongue poked adorably between his lips. He emitted a soft, quiet "wuff!" and remained blissfully unaware of his brother's mischief.

Durnehviir stepped over the remaining trio and despite her careful steps, she unknowingly nudged the palest youngster with her rear paw in her bid to capture her other son before he ventured into the unknown. Offended at having been shoved and roused, Viinturuth poked his nose accusingly at his nearest sibling's ribs before he shook his head and, much to his surprise, opened his eyes.

The sights were fuzzy, and he blinked against the daylight as he peered around him. Fixing his gaze to the blurry figure of the one he immediately knew to be his mother, Viin gathered himself and wobbled clumsily in her direction to press himself to her forelimbs and look up at her ivory chin.

He blinked against the brighter light of the outdoors, his clumsy paws toddling closer to the den entrance. His legs wobbled below him, and boy, was he slow – but this was the farthest he had manoeuvred yet, and the pup rumbled a low puppy growl of excitement.

The growl turned in to a small yap of surprise as his baby blue eyes fell upon the stranger outside the den entrance. He paused, quivering, the scent unfamiliar, but familiar from the creek. A tiny paw lifted to bat at the wolf, but before he could move further, his mothers protective embrace pulled him back, nestling him against her warmth. And just like that, his muzzle bumped in to his brothers, and Akavir had been thoroughly distracted as he began to mouth at his ivory littermate.
