Pack Formation
Setting: Morning — 0845
Weather: 64F — clear skies
Location: Warrior’s heart
Tags: @Derg

Donovan thought about leaving the canyon before, but he’s become attached to the canyon of red. The beautiful, vibrantly colored rock formations, the catacombs — an advantage in battle, and so many other things. Yet it could be time to leave. Recess back into the shadows and gather themselves. Gather their strength.

He walks outside his den, then to the ledge just a few feet before his den. He gives a quick, lazy howl for the Overseer, assuming he is nearby.

Derg was just out of the Heart when he was summoned back.
His ears twitched, half debating ignoring Kynareth...just to see what he'd do.
But no, Derg was a little too lawful for that and turned back to the Grandmaster.

He looked troubled.

"What's on your mind?"
His head tilted, wanting to know what he was thinking...or plotting.

Donovan watches the other trot to meet him. A quick smile then he’s strictly business. “We should move the pack.” Comes his thoughtful answer. “Not quite sure where yet, but perhaps we should wander until we find somewhere suitable. Maybe getting suggestions from the pack should help.”

Ah.
Yeah, this was a big thought from Kynareth.
He thought for a moment, weighing up the options.

"Yeah, it'd make sense to do so."
He thought for a moment more. He'd never been very far west so didn't know what was there...north would be his option. But if the pack knew of somewhere easily defendable then it'd be ideal.

"Somewhere we don't have others who know us, and somewhere we can defend...like they can in their Bear valley."
If they were gonna move, they'd do it right.

Calling the rest of the Saints. Only one post necessary. But feel free to post more ;>

@Nyra @Dove @Leigh @Valour @Aries @Hemlocke

The brindled male nods. “Something like that would be interesting. Helpful as well.”

A final nod. “I’ll call the pack then.” He hums with a curious smile. Wondering what they might make up. Tilting his head back he gives a much louder, boisterous howl. Calling for each and every wolf in the canyon.

Derg nodded.
Kynareth's howl rose through the air, summoning the Saints.
Derg joined in too, making sure that the pack had no excuse not to attend their bidding call.

He surprised himself he hadn't tried to murder Aries yet...but he'd been away.
For the best. He wouldn't trust that man to be within a six-foot branch of his or anyone children.
No, not at all.

He waited with Donovan, hoping this would go smoothly.

Nyra was quick to the call, popping her snowy head out of the large hole that was her den drowsily, before climbing stiffly out the rest of the way.
She yawned, shaking her fur out as she stalked up to the Alphas with a much lighter limp than she had had in the past.

"You called?" She inquired calmly, furrowing her brows with concern and curiosity

Donovan....or Kynareth (he had yet to question the sudden change of name dropped at Legion) called. Valour's ears rose up, head lifting as he cracked open one eye and slowly rose to his paws. Quickly he meandered on over to the small group spotting Nyra already there and greeting her with a friendly sway of his tail before turning his attention to their leaders. "What's up?" He asked expectantly for when Donovan called there was often a good reason and admittedly the young lord had grown bored. His paws itched for action, to do something and more often than not as of late he wanted to sink his teeth into someone's flesh and feel the rush that ending a good fight brought.

Excuse the short post. ;’>

He notices the other two coming. He’d fill them in before the others got there, might as well. “Nyra, Valour, welcome. We’re moving the pack. Any suggestions?” He asks straight to point. They need to get moving fast.

He greeted his packmates with a soft chuff, letting Kynareth speak.
He wondered if the pair could come up with something together. He knew Valour was well-travelled, so perhaps he'd know of someplace.

Derg looked out for the rest of the pack whilst the other three conversed about the move.

His brows quirked at the news but it wasn't really too much of a bother. The young lord had only ever had one home and losing that...he lost his attachment to land. Wherever the pack went was where he'd settle, as many moves as they had to make. Nobody seemed to speak up yet so he did his mind wandering to areas he'd select for various personal reasons and remembering a place he'd passed by that wasn't terribly far from Haunted woods...or Moonspear. "there's this real secure place. Kinda walled in like Ursus is in Bearclaw. One entrance and It's got mountains to one side and a forest on the other. It's just kinda...far from Ursus" he tried his best to sound like that was a bad plan and fell short the name of their ally rolling off his tongue with distaste.

Kynareth’s smirks, golden hues meeting Valour’s then over to Derg. Just what they were looking for. “I like the sound of this place, Valour. I trust your word.” He bellows with a smirk, then shifting his gaze to Derg. “Whatcha think?” He asks almost immediately.

As Valour approached, she returned the friendly wag of his tail with her own. Business was quick to get shown to.
Nyra tilted her head a bit and listened to Valour's words.
She then took a moment to add her vote after he finished
"If this place Valour speaks of is as barricaded and secured, or more so, than Ursus' valley, I think that place is our best chance to make sure we aren't nearly as vulnerable as we could be here when the bearwolves come for us. While the Canyon has the Catacombs and we know the terrain firmly, it also has more than one place to enter from, and that could be a huge disadvantage. Furthermore, putting more distance between them and us as soon as possible will hopefully give us time to become equally familiar, if not more so, with our new home, and further prepare for any level of trespass."

Derg turned his gaze to Valour as he spoke.
Sounded solid.
He nodded slowly, listening to Nyra's analysis before.

"I like it, and it'll be better for winter hunting." Anywhere should be better hunting than here. Things seem to be dying here.
The animals taking leave, hiding away. Food was becoming harder to find within the canyon, and for them to venture out into other territories was a bit of a challenge with their small numbers and slacking pack.

Ima assume its night idk, so Locke can be out. :)

Why move...? The question came delicately as the thinly black wolf came moving quietly towards the gathered group of packmates. A smile is offered to Nyra, a dip of his boxy snout to Valor, who's eye socket seemed quite a bit better and he looked between Derg and Don questioningly. As a newer member, only allowed travel at night and a natural recluse, of course he was unaware of many things.

His call came and so the priestess moved, curious to the reasoning of the summons. The others had gathered and at the tail end of the conversation did she realised they were leaving, her curled appendage swayed in irritation when she thought of her alter and newly equip medical den. She had been working so hard but she would not question the kitten, she nodded silently causing the skull she wore to rattle slightly. This one was from their former overseer, and with it came a whispering voice that wished to question their move but Dove remained silent and tilted her head in curiosity.

Kynareth’s greeted with the remainder of his pack. A prideful smile on his maw at the sight of them. Or what’s left of them.

First he addresses Nyra. She has valid points, many of them. “We will have a disadvantage if we get closed in, but we just had to keep up on border patrol then yes? Depending on how big the opening is and if the area is clear of trees, we could easily guard it and watch for incoming wolves. Of course, when we get there we need to scout the area and plan accordingly.” Now Derg. “Yes, food grows thin here in the canyon. We will find better game in a forested area during the upcoming winter.”

Then a softer voice reaches Donovan’s auds — Hemlocke. He briefly offers a polite smile at him before answering. “Not only for food, but because of Ursus. Until we are stronger and outnumber them we cannot be near. I’m sure they’ve got something fun planned for us.”

Two more arrives. That made six.
Who was missing?
Pretty girl Leigh and that bastard Aries.

His face conveyed his displeasure as his eyes searched for the pair.
For some reason, the thought of the two being alone together unsettled him...probably because of Keen, but that would compel him to search immediately, no? No, this was...different.

His tail twitched in annoyance at the situation.
"We'll be fucked by them if we don't go." He looked levelly at his pack, daring them to challenge the decision. "If you have somewhere better to go than the place Valour speaks of, then do say now. Otherwise, I don't want to hear no bitchin."

What the fuck had just come out of his mouth.
His eyes crinkled slightly as if he were disgusted with himself - which he was. He was never usually like this. Never.
His heart faltered, but Derg had the balls to say, "Sorry everyone." His eyes flicked away from them, looking again for Leigh and Aries.

The Svartell sidled in the shadows, embellished in his cloak; invisible to the eye as he doused himself in ink, accursed man and his bone-trembling crown. He might’ve been inveigled from the shade sooner if not for Derg’s fitful glare, undoubtedly watching. Bedevilled and desperate, ignited with fumes of uncertainty, and he knew why. He knew why, as portal-lit eyes followed his trail of russet, and the cold scepticism that ensued. It must have been a trepidation that festered there, in the overseer's bones; like a spider, he thought, needle-thin legs drawing bloody trails from his spine. A faltering man, who knew to fear when the world was not painted under his watch.

Congenial; gratifying.

But at last he grew weary of the distance, and that bastard Aries descended from his perch, a flatness of rock bestrewn with sand, body seeming at once to swallow the space before him. With ethereal grace he edged closer to the gathering of canyon-warriors, slipping among them with only silence, and a sly, knowing curl of ebony lips.

"i trust your word"

There was the slightest curl of his tail, a puff of pride but he nodded tilting his chin downward in silent thanks. Meanwhile he burned internally, a gleam in his gaze as he looked to Nyra who provided him with information he'd clearly missed out on. Things with Ursus had turned sour....nothing had made him happier than this news but he made sure to keep his expression neutral only changing to one of mild surprise as Derg spoke firmly with enough vehemence that anyone who argued would surely be sorry. Lips twitching upward though he tried not to show that he liked the little bit of temper the stoic man showed though the apology offered kind of ruined it and Valour shrugged "Anyone who complains can be left to Ursus" the words were even harsher than the second in command's but said in a light tone as he followed Derg's gaze. Spotting the approaching greyscale man he could smell that he'd been amongst the canyon but he was unknown to Valour. He'd met everyone else at least once....his opinion of this man was held low especially eyeing the expression of a snake he wore. Ignoring the new arrival he turned back to Donovan "I can bring you and Derg there. We can check it out. Leave our mark upon the entrance together and come back to regroup if you both find it satisfactory"

A shaman then came, a woman draped in ghostly white like Nyra. Though she was not a behemoth of a woman, like a polar bear, and she held feathers through her furs and skull of a fallen wolf over her face. Mismatched eyes peered beneath, she was silent and so was the hellhound, struck by her a moment as bloodied eyes watched her.

Then Donovan answered him, catering to a place that would hold them over best in the winter. Living in a cannon seemed like a warm place to many who did not know one. But Hemlocke had lived in one through his youth and the cold nights cut harder then anything he had felt before. He would be happy for the move and but,

Derg's words were offputting. Large bat-like ears turning back. The hellhound was stiff in his placement, remembering why he often kept alone, if not having light conversation with one at a time. Tension was high and Hemlocke felt awkward, uncomfortable.

Hemlocke's eyes tore away, and he thought for a moment to mention the Bramble woods which he had lived so lonely before. Not many came to the Bramble and it was large and unkempt. No one who knew that forest well would find them so easily through it. But, ever unconfident with himself, he kept silent. He shifts back a few paces from the group and settles down to only listen.

They're calling for me. I'll talk to you again soon.

Leigh had been sitting peacefully and alone when Donovan's call echoed across the sky. She knew it was just the world's way of telling her it was time to end the conversation. Leaving her family with a silent goodbye, the woman rose to her paws before setting off to find the rest of the pack.

As she approached and the shadows of her packmates began to take shape, a little part of her died inside. Was she the last one to arrive? Her pumpkin colored eyes, appropiate for the season, scanned the scene as she counted the wolves. She hadn't met the entirety of the pack, but the conversation seemed to have been going on for quite a while already. But right now, Leigh didn't have time to be embarassed. She needed to jump in as quick as possible to gather as much information as possible. Another puzzle to solve, perhaps.

Her steps were quiet as her paws pressed lightly against the ground. With a soft smile on her face, a greeting of sorts, she waited until it was silent before speaking. The least she could do was not interrupt.

"I'm sorry for being late."

She could feel his crimson eyes on her, it was hard not to notice someone wearing such a dark cloak with irises of a demon. For a small moment she looked to his location as she allowed her curled tailed rump hit the earth, she gave him a gentle smile that could mean anything before looking back over her leader and his second. She though of locations and was curious of this place called the bramble, she remembered another place that could fit them but would they want forest or maybe they wanted a place similar to the canyon.

The angelic clad woman would never admit that though she worked hard on her medical den, she would be happy not to fight the red dust. A sigh escaped her with Derg's harsh words, someone was in a grumpy mood.  Her words came then, gentle and sweet,  a large contrast to the way their Overseer spoke. "would if be alright if I accompanied you out there, it would be a shame if there was not a good location to tend those that have ailments or of there are no herbal remedies at hand. I might be able to scout these things in advance.. if that wouldn't be too much trouble" She smiled looking to Derg before the giant kitten, her tail swishing as if a child presented with candy.

Donovan is only slight bothered at Derg’s little explosion. He’s not too worried, but he does file the mildly suspicious behavior for later questioning. Which he will not forget to do. Then another and another show. Aries, his gaze follows the sleek shadow of a man. The silvery tone to his coat shining a sickly blue in the moonlight.

Then to Valour again, he listens, contemplates, distractingly watches Hemlocke move to the outside of the crowd, then another shows. Leigh this time. Donovan also glances at her with a nod, acknowledging her present as well. He’s not too worried about them being late so he continues. Then even Dove shows, adding her wishes to the mix until Kynareth looks to them and begins speaking.

“I like the ideas and suggestions, but I think it would be more beneficial to travel as one. The whole pack. We migrate together. For any left behind are sure to be Ursus’ latest supper.” His gaze returns to Derg, awaiting his opinion and welcoming any others.

He could see what his words had done to the pack.
Uncertainty, concern. Perhaps not fear, not yet.
Hemlocke moved away, Aries approached with a stupid smirk on his face.
Leigh, safe and well.
Valour seemed disappointed for some reason. Whatever - he didn't want to be harsh and unforgiving.

His head dipped. He didn't want to be that.

But there was Kynareth, posing him more questions.
This place was far away, and no one seemed to have any knowledge of the area apart from Valour.
"We have small enough numbers as it is, we move as one."
He echoed Kynareth, bestowing confirmation of his power.
He looked to Dove, "I will help you find the perfect place to tend to the pack." A promise he'd endeavour to keep for her. For the pack.

It all came down to the pack.
