Large game event with a twist! This moose is RABID and in the last leg of the excitative stage (furious/encephalitic). You may PP the moose attacking, raising havoc, or dying! You may also eat him if you dare! But remember eating infected tissue is a way to contract rabies - make sure to do your research of likelihood of transmission before eating. .
The quakes were over, but the terror from mother nature’s fury had only just begun. Wildlife in the area was slim, with those that survived often infected by raging sickness. A bull moose, outwardly healthy save for the gashes of a past onslaught on his hips, passed through the Point. He knew not his time was limited. Attacked by a rabid wolf a week earlier, the moose had since lost much of its sentience, and wandered
He walked with an uncertain gait, though by no means was disoriented. His ears moved at a constant rate, and in more than one instance, the moose charged at anything to cross his path that appeared alive; most were odd trees struck down by the quake, or strangely assembled rocks. His massive tines often easily mowed down the fallen trees, pushing through detritus with the clean efficiency of an immensely powerful bushwhacker.
The moose went in search of food and his herd - both gone from the wilds. Exhausted, with an insidious virus slowly taking ahold of his faculties, the moose pressed onward.

Hydra happened upon the beast in utterly random fashion, and remained in the shadows as she stalked it, thus undetected. To alert others of her find with a howl, or to herd it in the direction of home...? Hydra altered her path, still lingering in the darkness, sniffing—
This thing gave off a terrible odor, one that caused some dread to well within her. This animal, it was not well; fed enough as she was, and Moonspear, too, Hydra determined this particular beast was not worth the risk. And so Hydra did not pursue it any longer; she gained a great distance away from the four-legged creature as she returned home. Once there, she would loose a howl warning her pack to avoid this area; something was amiss, and Hydra would not have her subordinates become victim to it.

I'll find that you'll find that I'm lethal

Dragomir was tracing the stale remnants of his mother's scent on the ground near Moonspear, working himself into a frothing frenzy with rage that she dared to step close to his home after all she'd done and obsessing over it in an unhealthy and frantic manner, when he stumbled upon the moose's scent. It cut through everything else and quieted the crying inside his heart, for his hunger was greater than his anger, as molten hot as that was.
There was something unsettling about the scent of the moose, something more metallic than blood and more pungent than rot. Dragomir was young and inexperienced and hungry and found that easy to overlook at present. His nose, unfailing as it was, led him along its trail with ease. He should have known from the signs of trampled foliage and the destruction of fallen trees that there was something terribly wrong with the situation, but right now his growling belly had control over his brain.
He never found the moose. Hydra's voice rose over Bramblepoint like the crystalline tolling of a bell and Dragomir halted, ears pricked. It was the sound of an alarm. Torn between pursuing the moose and rallying to his lead wolf's call, Dragomir hesitated, licking his drool-slick lips and whining softly. It was enough to clear his head, at least. Another deep inhale brought him not the scent of meat, but the putrid odour of sickness. This time his belly tensed not with hunger, but with fear. That smell was not food.
Turning from the trail with a disappointed sigh and the traitorous rumbling of his stomach, Dragomir made to follow Hydra back to Moonspear.

The scent of the moose was so strong that even the resident omega was drawn from the dark forest; he had not slept well the day or night before, plagued by hunger and the stress of his position, so when he took notice of the queen departing for a surrounding territory he sought her out. There was work to be done. He was exhausted, but he still had much to learn from her.
When the scent hit him he became something else, though. The skittering spider-limbed boy grew bold in his need, striding with purpose as he rounded upon where Hydra waited; he saw the other boy too, a warm darkness with sharp eyes.
Hungry though he was, Tye drew back, falling in to place behind the two wolves at quite a distance. He did not know how the queen would react to his presence outside of the territory; he did not want to draw her ire, and he did not know what to expect of this other boy - there was an agitated halo of energy around him which Tye keenly picked up on.

one post cameo
He wanted food, so badly. His stomach roared with such intensity he was sure that the other Nightwalkers had heard it. He was an idiot, he had given so much food away and eaten so little himself that he was now ravenous as the prey brought home increased dramatically. The stench of the moose was almost overwhelming and he retched as his stomach revolted at the smell of food. He grew closer and closer, nearly close enough to be seen before the howl of alarm from a she wolf startled him and he scampered back. Then the stench of...something terrible lying beneath the meaty scent of the moose hit him and he backed off turning to walk home, ears flattening back against his head as his stomach roared and snarled at him as if angry for turning down the chance for a meal.
3/10 mastery
