The two of them eventually stopped moving and the Regent hastened backward, though not quickly enough to dodge the headbutt to the chest. He hit her so squarely that the blow knocked the wind right out of her.

Gasping and groaning, Towhee continued backpedaling, causing a space to open up between them. Had this been a real fight, she might've been in trouble. But it was only a spar, so she signaled for Bronco to wait until she caught her breath. Of course, whether he obliged her or took advantage of her momentary weakness instead was entirely up to him.
