Towhee met both answers with a thoughtful look. She couldn't really grasp the passage of time too well, though the description of a plateau gelled at least. While she sat there processing this information, several more questions cropped up in her mind. She knew Finley was trying to tell a story here—per the child's own request—but Towhee couldn't help herself. She needed so many more details to fill in the blanks in her mental image.

Someone had probably told her about Peregrine and Fox before but nothing had really sunk in so far, likely given her age.
