The Sentinels Boarfish

Following her confessional with Rodyn, Towhee didn’t head home to the copse. Instead, she struck out for the neighboring forest. She wondered if the buffalo skin was still caught in a tree. Perhaps the rain or wind had driven it from its perch after all this time, though she would have to wait until morning to search. It was getting dark now.

She found a place to rest and fell asleep despite her busy thoughts. When she stirred awake sometime later, Towhee blinked groggily into the forest. It was the middle of the night. She wasn’t sure why she’d woken, though she sensed a presence nearby. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she stood.

Towhee began to move, stepping slowly through the black woods. Her orange eyes gleamed, cutting to and fro through the trees, peeled for anything moving out in the darkness.
