Maxim and Leona had come to her first, so it made sense that they might be the last to leave too. As she chewed a mouthful of rabbit meat, she wondered if they would disappear as she continued getting better. Towhee selfishly wanted them to stay, though not enough to resume any flirtations with death, thank you very much.
