Amalia’s acceptance and support meant a great deal to Towhee. She woud need it. Just because her body had decided it could handle this didn’t mean it would be easy. That thought reminded her of something else she ought to mention to her granddaughter-in-law.

We won’t be together, it felt important to discern, but I won’t begrudge him his role as father, nor let him shirk it.

Towhee shifted her weight, still feeling a little antsy about discussing this with Killdeer despite his mate’s warm reception.
