The imminent arrival of the newest Redhawks effectively culled any wanderlust living in Towhee’s heart. She knew they could stand to recruit another wolf or two, though their core felt pretty solid. She refused to stray further than the foot of the caldera these days, even though her mind often wandered further afield during her patrols.

She caught herself thinking of @Towhee Jr a lot lately. How was motherhood going for her? Had Bushtit visited her lately? Of course, she thought of all her other wayward children and their children too. What had ever become of Meerkat’s travels with @Njord and Skipjack? Had Otter ever reunited with her parents and brother? Was it too much to hope they’d all magically find their way to the caldera someday? What would @Fennec make of her grandchildren, should she ever appear?

Before Towhee could speculate on that much, she noticed a figure straddling the borderline she was currently patrolling. Recognition registered a beat later. Concern flared through her, even as she tried to shove aside all thoughts of the Segundo.
