Redhawk Caldera Crush toast.

Fire blazed from the den first, quickly followed by smoke. Towhee’s lips curved into a predatory grin as she observed her descendants’ killer instincts. She thought she’d seen a particularly fierce streak in Carolina, though both children proved quite ferocious as they chomped at the poor, shrieking rabbit.

The Elder did not make herself known as she watched the scene unfold. They lacked finesse, which was at the prey’s peril, but Towhee knew the Redhawks would refine them as hunters as they grew. While she waited for the killing blow to land, she did some quick mental math and realized the pups’ first pack hunting experience would fall in the dead of winter.

Many would consider that bad luck, though Towhee knew it was the best time of year to pursue ungulates, particularly in heavy snow. While dreams of bringing down big game danced in her head, her orange eyes followed every movement as the miniature hunt continued playing out below.
