All Welcome
His eyes cast up to the sorrowful sky, despite the downpour which obscured his vision. He was lost, separated from she whom made him complete. His ears perked up as he heard something in the distance, though as it was muddled by the mournful crashing of the sky, they once again began to droop... But again he heard the sound... And again... Once more... His heart began to pound now, though the howls were too far away to be clearly recognized... She was looking for him.... She was alive... His Wilding... He had to believe it were the case, and he would, for otherwise meant certain death. Until his paws were worn to bone, he would look for her. Blinded by his excitement, sorrow, and desperation, he took off towards the very distant source of commotion.

it was not howls that had driven the little duck from her ulaq, but the fear that once more, stones would drive her toward death. it was with a grim expression that kukutux slung several furs over her narrow shoulders and set off. if it proved safe, of course she would go back, but for now, a great forest beckoned.

her heart beat drumlike as she slipped into its darkness. kukutux was not unfamiliar with the wood, but it seemed more dire now, more delicate even than she recalled. there was a small clearing, the duck remembered; she would make of it a home until the sea settled and she could return.

a rush of shadow; a glint of glacial eyes. unbidden, a gasp rose from her throat; she shrank back against the touch of ferns.

cry?

had he found her? had he come for her — here?
