a small disc of boartusk, worn smooth through carrying and soaks in the lake. she had found it one morning, struggling upon three legs in mismatched gait. uneven, a large chip; it had stopped her in anguished tracks and knew it had been a sign from the one who gave her the hunter's mark, a reminder of her own strength
