It was time. She'd taken her days between, but she needed to make her peace with this decision. The best way to do that would be to make the choice official, irreversible, and done.
She'd settled, for the most part, on what she would say. The decision to say it to the whole pack was a harder one, but if they were all family, then they all deserved to know. @Erzulie was right.
She called them all together - @Njord, @Chacal, @Sobo and @Loko, @Coraline, @Hermes, and even @Jorunn. Then she waited, the dread of it mixed with the soon relief of having it behind her.

I'll give a couple of days between, and this will probably be short <3 optional meeting for y'all!

she had not been expected to be summoned so soon after her arrival.
yet it was not just her who was summoned. it was all of them. names she did not recognize personally but that she was expected to recognize as family all the same.
it appeared she had the gift of being early to this gathering, and offered a warm hum towards rosalyn as she opted for somewhere neutral in position to patiently wait for others to arrive. it was good to see the other woman — perhaps she would have thought otherwise if she knew what loomed on the horizon.

Njord heard Rosalyn’s call and he responded dutifully, abandoning the scent of game he’d been following. He made no assumptions as to why. Sapphique had been through so much in the past few months. The seafarer resolved to keep kept an open mind as he took a seat in the captain’s audience.
He spied their new Granite, Jorunn, and tilted his head in a polite greeting before his eyes turned to the scarred, ruddy woman. Maybe it was the especially harsh year, or simply her age, but Rosalyn looked more tired and weathered than she had. Njord took a breath and waited for the others.

always close, erzulie waited with her wife. this time she did not kiss or coddle rosalyn; she knew this to be a difficult decision and wanted to give her mate the space for dignity so needed
but she lingered all the same, just at the familiar flank of the other seawife.
first jorunn, then njord. she smiled at them both, seeking their respective gazes for a small and steadying moment.
sapphique had stood a long time and with lasting strength. she must have faith in them now.

Feel free to assume that your character was here if you wish! I'll be vague <3
She'd held an idea of what she would say and how she would begin, but she should have known better. When they began to arrive and look at her in turn, despite the warmth of every one, any plans she had held were lost. She used to thrive in situations like these, but it seemed now that her mind preferred to douse the lot in oil and light a match.
Swept clean as a beach after tide. She tried to snatch at some remnant, but there was nothing, and she grew frustrated. With that came an almost refusal. She was too old for this - she had nothing to prove.
I've called you to tell you I'll no longer be captain. It's time. There was no use avoiding what they would find out.
Some days I can't sort a thought from a seagull's shit. But that doesn't mean I won't be here, or that I won't set a single one of you straight if need be.
The last statement held a touch of humor, but it was quick to fade. She would make this as easy as she could for all of them, but she was not interested in questions. It was tempting to simply dismiss them, but after she'd drawn them together like this, that would be abrupt (even for her).
Despite reluctantly waiting, she did not want to know, so did not study their responses with any focus. It was done.

jorunn had not been here long, she had not known these wolves with such deepness even if she did hold such fondness for them.
still the news sunk like a stone. rosalyn; the stone cut woman, the wife of erzulie, no longer captain. her thoughts muddled — or as the former captain had so put, seagull's shit.
the granite would not weep or ask questions. only sit in her understanding silence as her gaze fluttered around those who were here and eventually a lingering look of kindness to erzulie.

Sobo knew this was coming.
He knew he had not imagined Rosalyn's confusion, the way old memories became real life for her. She told him it was nothing, but Erzulie reacted to the news and he knew it was not nothing. Now it was proven again before all of Sapphique. For her to step down, there was something not right with his mamá, and it frightened him terribly.
He kept all this to himself, sitting in silence somewhere behind Jorunn and Njord. There was a storm brewing in his young eyes, a storm of fear and worry, but now was not the time for an outburst about that. He kept silent, but in his head, he screamed out for the loa, begged them to visit his mamá and somehow make things right.

erzulie stood firm at her wife's side. rosalyn spoke and though her words were light, she knew her wife's heart was weighed with the piercing millstone of what this meant for sapphique.
jorunn's look was accepted and softly returned before erzulie looked to sobo. surely many things warred within their son. but foremost among them was his importance to their pack, intensified.
she did not know what might occur when her own time came to pass the helm.
but she looked directly at the boy, willing him strength. he would be integral to the paths chosen by his sisters.

Sorry folks, I missed this tag in amongst a bunch of others. Gonna have Chacal be one of those quiet ones in the background that's been here.
She knew the gist of what the meeting would be about, and watched as wolves arrived. Some new faces, some she recognized. There were some that she would always look for- such as Valravn, Eadwulf and Haunt- simply because she wished they would reappear. The pack would evolve and change, though- just as it was now. She saw the pale stranger show compassion toward Erzulie- and made a mental note to meet her. Her brother looked stiff, as though he was trying very hard to hold his emotions in. She thought it might look best if she stayed where she was, and didn't draw attention- but she was a compassionate wolf. And her brother was clearly stressed.
She was also discreet, light on her paws, and kept her gaze fixed so she might not draw attention from the others. She prowled over to Sobo, and simply sat down beside him, wordlessly. She didn't bow or bend or reach to draw him close. What she offered was to be someone who could block him from view from anyone else if his emotions overcame him, or for her to be a shoulder for him to lean against if he chose. They were from strong blood; and they would hold each other up.
It can be assumed that if Chacal is speaking, she will be singing. Her speaking patterns will always have a melodic quality to them.
