She had told @Rhaegal of her plans. To go inland, just for a day or two, and inform @Kukutux of Saltshore, and to see her newest siblings.

The doe carried with her a gift of a spring-fat partridge, several dried pieces of fish, and the old fox pelt as the carrying skin. She didn’t call as she crossed the border, knowing beyond knowing that she was allowed this. Her anaa knew her, the people of the village knew her. She waved at a few as she passed, her smile bright around the skin in her mouth.

A smell caught her as she grew close to the scent of whelps, and she stopped. Her nostrils twitched, sniffed the air, but other than that she remained frozen. A statue, poised to move but stuck in marble.

Because how could she forget the smell of her mother? Despite her memories of the woman’s face fading, despite her siblings fading and fading from her memories, the woman’s scent was the first thing she had ever smelled, the first air she had ever breathed was spiced with her breath.

Vairë did not know how to handle this. If she ever had. The mother who loved her, who bore her, who left her behind to hunt for Wilwarin, then to make a new village, then to go spirits knew where. She couldn’t tell if she was elated at her return, or hurt that she had come back at all.

The doe cast her gaze around for @Lótë , eyes wide with indecipherable emotion.

tags for ref or to join! @Massaraq @Kassuq @Arrluk @Galana <3

her children grew.

sakhmet had not come back.

moonwoman's heart was filled with emptiness on one side, for the loss of her wife. she took joy in the growing of their children.

she allowed them over the threshold at last, lying down upon a wide piece of soft-cured hide from the previous summer. here she offered milk, eyes falling to half-lidded in the coolness of the spring day.

her daughter came now, glowing in new-marriage and with things carried. kukutux lifted her head, noting how the girl grew tense and wondering.

"your first-mother was here," she called softly to the young woman. "but come and see. there are four faces to call you atauraga."

Her anaa was there, speaking in those gentle tones she remembered from her childhood. It made her relax, her body loosened, her face turning into a smile.

Anaa, they are so cute! She crooned when she came close, close enough to pick out the small bodies beside her mother.  Placing down the carrying skin, she settled upon the grass, her smile almost too perfect. It unsettled her, to be honest, the thought that Lótë had come back. The bitter, angry girl she had been wanted to know why. The hurt girl even deeper inside her wanted to know what she had done to not be chosen in the end.

The woman she was frowned, before reaching over to pull the skin close and open it to reveal the things inside. She pushed the meat to Kukutux with a little smile.

For you. I am working on my sea legs still, I am not quite good at fishing yet. She didn’t mention Lótë, not yet.

Massaraq heard someone coming and turned his gaze. This stranger had eyes a color like his anaa's but she was not. He whined, turning his attention towards her and wobbling to his paws. She spoke many words and he stared at her, eyes boring into her features, the set of her shoulders, and when she mentioned sea legs he turned his gaze there as if expecting to see something strange, but they looked normal to him. Maybe because she did not have them yet? "Sea legs? Fishing?" His voice piped up, fumbling the words in the way that young creatures often did.

But this strange brought something, and a skin unfolded to reveal it. He peered closer, it smelled different and he did not know what it was. Briefly, he looked at her again, eyes wide and then instantly back on the thing "What's this?" It did not smell bad, but there was a strength to the scent and he contemplated biting into it to see what could be gleaned there but he wished to know more.

feel free to powerplay tiny Massaraq!

A month of life had come and then, a woman came, young, though not so young as Galana. She was pale in color and spoke of the sea. She smelt of salt and sand, though it was something Arrluk did not yet known it words. He sniffs and sneezes there after. Quiet, but a smile on his face.

His brother questions, questions which Arrluk too had buy did not speak them allowed. His brothers were both louder, more social and well, more dominant then he. Even though they were very young, Arrluk was already beginning to know that if he waited, his brothers would find out the answers without Arrluk needing to speak out on his own. So for now, he keeps close to his mother's belly, little tail thumping the earth.

"they are strong and fast!" she said proudly of the newest young ones to join the clan nuiruk. "arrluk, massaraq, kassuq, and galana."

moonwoman gladly sampled a portion of the sea-flesh that her daughter had hunted. "ah! it tastes of salt and the wild waves!" her face was filled with pleasure.

"you will learn the way of the water. rhaegal will teach you," kukutux teased gently, and then she looked in a motherly way at vairë. "are you settling, mamattuk?"
