All Welcome
Though by far the most reserved of her siblings, little miss priss was no less curious about the growing world around her.

It was drizzling outside the den now, and she sat primly at its entrance, listening closely to the pattering rainfall, shifting her head back and forth in confusion. She could hear something other than the gentle trickling, unaware that it was the clawing activity of squirrels in the trees above the lip of their den that she was listening to, out of her sight range.

Whaaaa? she called out into the (very) early morning rain, speaking to no one in particular since everyone still inside was either still asleep or paying her no mind.

sparrow reeled alongside his sister with mouth open and eyes glued to the den roof. he gave her a nudge before lowering his gaze to hers as if to say; you go first. he wanted to make sure that whatever was out there would not kill him, and sacrificing his sister as a test subject seemed appropriate.

when bryony did not immediately move he nudged her again, this time voicing his desire. "bry go!" he demanded, a paw lifted as he shoved it in her face before pointing outwards to the noise's source.

perhaps unbeknownst to the children, their ma loomed right behind them, plodding toward the misty light as a yawn stretches her jaws.
what's'a matter wit' you, meatball? she rumbles, playfully poking her nose into her son's rump and giving a soft, soothing kiss to her daughter's shoulder. the rain isn't that bad. the two of yas could use a bath anyway, you little stinkers.
it's then that she notices the skittering of the squirrels, watching one dart after its buddy between the thick covering of greenery. ohhhh, i see, she prods bryony with a paw, motioning for sparrow with a jerk of her head. be nice to each other for five minutes and i'll show ya what that racket's all about.

Sacrificing his own sister to the squirrels -- Typical.

Noooooooo, Bryony whined loudly at Sparrow's insistence that she investigate the noise. His fat paw pressed into her face, and she was being bowled over in slow motion, pushed inch-by-inch to her doom when Ma intervened.

She quickly righted herself, backing up until she was standing under Ma's chest, glaring between the trunks of slender legs at her bully sibling, her fur mussed from being manhandled. Gib baff! she squealed to Ma with an accusatory point at Sparrow. She wouldn't mind a bath at all, but she knew her brother wouldn't like it one bit.

But rather than punish the little spawn, Ma saw fit to teach them something instead -- which Bryony had no objections to. She looked out into the rain again, trying to listen past the water to the sounds of tiny claws scraping on wood.
