Moonsong Glacier as daddy rises and momma sets

Things had stabilized, for the most part. They were still small in number, but Dutch would do his best to see them through. He came to the foothills that day with only the faintest ache in his hip, and after a long time standing and breathing in the winter air, he tipped back his head:

The moon has set,
and so the sun must rise.
M o r n i n g s o n g 
draws her first breath in melody.

His deep baritone echoed back to him from afar, but the chief listened now for other voices to join him. He wondered if his voice would reach @Sialuk and @Alaric, but even if it did not, he was sure that word would somehow travel. In the meantime, he turned his attention to what lay inside his territory.

There was always more work to be done.

In the mists of the higher parts of the spine, her voice echoed back in sweet notes.

Steel threads in her words, the newly risen leader sung in tune with Valiant’s hunting brother, accepting, determined.

Moondoe accepts Dutch as Chief!

She only hoped it would be the same for her sister and her brother in law, for her aunt and her father, for her mother.

It echoed. It was not near, but he could hear the faint call. So he lifted his maw and let his own deep howl reach them. They would accept moonsong even despite the upheaval of it's birth.

It was not their fault, their former leader was still too young and untried. He hoped that despite it all. Ariadne would find her way and someday return to her family's hearth at least on kindness.

the panther is chieftain of village morningsong, the seal hunter sang into the cold air.
his tones were proud. soon he would set off but for now, chakliux carried the sound of his support from salt to ice.

moonmother accepts.

dutch would lead a powerful people, kukutux felt, and was happy to lend her voice to that chorus of praise.

quietly she sang another, lower song of protection for the spine-man, and a second for ariadne — always.

star hunter accepts; long live morningsong!

shikoba knew the ice mountain did not call for her, and perhaps it was for the best that she would remain in moonglow. she would not be away from her children, her sister, her husband. she'd remain close by, especailly with moon woman planning her healing trip.

her song intertwines with the others, her voice growing weak at the end.
