Horizon Ridge Angels Writ, Devils Drought

Arric is about to drop so starting a thread for the wolves to gather to try to save Chacal/Mireille. This is just a gathering thread. One post is sufficient. If you want more I can do more. I will post the leaders and then you can tag your respective warriors or have your warriors answer in your stead. Thank you again everyone for taking the time to write with us. Backdated to March 26th. I can change this to the 27th or 28th if needed.

Arric was not pleased about letting Etienne and the wolf Anselm go ahead of them. But he understood that this was a mission that was secretive and must be done with caution. He had gathered the few he had, which to be frank was not many. He himself, @Cygnet. Perhaps @Akavir or @Silvertongue. That was all from Creek. 

The wolves from Bearcreek had answered his call and they had offered a few wolves to help. Who they could spare. @Ameline and @Ancelin. This was a trying time to be bringing any wolves along. This was whelping season and the start of spring. Many were hunting and getting ready for the days ahead.

He called @Lafayette and any he would bring from Sapphique. The boy who had made the long arduous task of running for help. He and his sister they had done well. And Arric hoped he could help them as much as he could. 

Following on the wind was the wolves of Moonglow @Kukutux and @AIolos. They would have a few here. Arric hoped it was enough.

can be a cameo! he's got no idea why there is a gathering but he's always up for a fight.

kukuvrak briefly reunited with the two women of tartok, listening to the tale woven by nagruk of saatsine's demise, so far as he understood it—and for a time the trio roamed beyond the wilds.
he sought the blood of animals to satisfy his urges, although it did not satiate a deeper desire within kukuvrak even as he painted himself with his usual gore. the women roamed further than he did and for a time he was alone, weaving a path towards the coast and then—there was a voice, rising from the next ridge.

curiosity drew him along; he smelled them first, the way one might smell a coming rain. drawing a tongue across his bloodied snout, kukuvrak's interest was piqued.
he would keep out of their way—whoever they were, wherever they came from, they were not tartok; however, kukuvrak could intuit enough about the tense atmosphere that something was happening, and he was entertained enough to linger on the outskirts and keep tabs.
perhaps there was something redeeming about these wilds after all.

with @Aiolos, @Rodyn, @Ipiktok, and arrluk did moonwoman travel.

they were strong warriors, and it was an opportunity for moonglow to show itself. warriors as well as peacemaking were powers possessed by the moonwolves, and she meant to position them best to be seen.

@Solharr too; she had called to him in the quarry, saying that the time had come.

arric and swiftcurrent were given a nod. her green eyes traveled over the assemblage.

for rodyn, a whisper; "i know you will be strong."

for arrluk, a murmur; "do this for ajei, so she may be safe wherever she travels."

for ipiktok; "you are the son of moondoe. shed blood in her name."

and for aiolos; her love; her kiss.

"come back to me, uiga."

solharr stood quiet among the gathered, his broad form casting shadow in the morning light. the lowlands still smelled of snowmelt and stirring earth, but it was the tension that filled the air—tight as drawn bowstrings—that held his focus.

he met kukutux’s gaze. he gave her a single nod.

to ipiktok, to arrluk, to the rest, he said nothing at first. only his eye roved over them—measured, calm, commanding. then, with the voice of a war-chief tempered by sorrow and fire:

we leave now.

Rodyn took what Kukutux said and dipped his head at her. He would be strong. HE would do what he could. He would help. The queens of Sapphique deserved it. They were brave and strong in their own right.

He turned to meet the gaze of Solharr and tilted his head. It is up for Arric or the wolves who are related to Sapphique to speak on when we leave. This is not a mission that relies on brute force, but quiet and stealth. THere are newborns possibly we will need to carry to safety.

He dipped his head in polite kindness. He was not being rude nor mean. It was just the way of things. Solharr needed patience and he was not in charge at this time. The wolf Lafayette or Arric were.

Cygnet said little during the travel, knowing that her silence would arouse no suspicion. She wondered if her willingness to go might raise some eyebrows, but no one seemed to question her- besides, every spare body would be helpful. 

It was only when Moonwoman's jade eyes passed over her that a flicker of concern glimmered in her single, labradorite eye, the sliver of green revealing itself momentarily as her pupil narrowed. She blinked, a subtle acknowledgement of the woman's rank, but said nothing and made no move to catch her consideration. 

A broad-shouldered man spoke, and she blinked again to see another wolf whose face was scarred as her own, a pale socket left where the orb had once been. Another battle-torn man spoke, asserting that Arric, or the wolves of Sapphique, should decide their departure. As much as she begrudged hearing that Arric would have an influence on that decision, she was glad at least that it was her pack that would have some sway in the matter. 

She flicked her tongue across her lips, and remained silent.

lafayette came alone, though he figured @Sobeille and @Shadess would not be far behind. as for tousaint, who had returned the worse for wear. . .he didn't bother to call for him. 

his brother had ran away when he should have fought. once a coward, always a coward.

the assembled wolves included members of the moon packs, forneskja, and swiftcurrent, and relief washed over him at the sight of the robust contingent. their numbers had been too small to hold off the pirates the first time, but with this show of strength?

he was confident they would succeed.

solharr spoke first, and then a moonglow warrior cast out a rebuttal. lafayette stepped forward, looking a bit shy, but lifted his chin to speak regardless.

should we wait to hear what etienne has learned? the yearling offered. he will know de best way in by now, i t'ink.

Sometimes, like now, Shadess felt as though she could taste the blood of @Bruno on her lips. The feeling she had to be standing over him. The pleasure, the power. Vengeance was something sweet and today she had ever intention of getting her fill of it. If it were up to her, Murkwood would seize to exist this day. 

I dun dink we should wait, Lafayette. Her voice speaks up among those gathered as she comes trotting along, to join her sibling at his side. Our force is strong. May catch de attention of a scout. If they waited, she worried what the pirates might do once they realized they could not outmatch them by force now. 

Would they try to hide their kin? Lead them away? Kill them?? If they had given birth, they would be slow. If they ran, they could catch them, yet lives may be lost in the tumble.

Aiolos remained close to the side of Kukutux. They were aged, yet the fight was not yet over within them. Arrluk takes to his father's flank in dutiful silence. A husband to be, only just returning with the remainder of bride price for @Ajei. To now be called to arms. 

To @Rodyn, Aiolos smiles warmly. To @Solharr he dips his chin in a respectful, silent greet. Two men who had wed his daughters. Two men which still called the Sunshine people family even after their mates had gone. 

Always.

Arrluk moves quietly as they crossed the lands which seperated Moonglow from the raven forest. Miles lie between them. Still, they were not all that far from Stavanger Bay. Closer there then they had been when they raided Sapphique. A place Arrluk favored and as his mother's words spoke to him, he thought to make sure if he were to visit there with Ajei they would be safe. 

Ajei. She was his to protect now more then ever. 

A scout. Arrluk took to words now, parroting what the deep mahogany woman had spoken. Perhaps it would be best they did catch our scent... A few of us, our strongest, can be caught trespassing their border. Their guards will give chase. This may give passage for our swift and stealthy to retrieve the mothers and new pups. Get then out quickly while our fighters destract with battle.

Arric listened to all the suggestions and so forth. He frowned in thought. There was merit in all that had been suggested. However, he did not want a brute strength moment. However, he also knew that there would need to be something done. So he tilted his head and nodded. 

We will go quietly. Etienne has informed me to go whether he returns or not. He is informing your family we are coming.

He shifted and sighed. He wasn't sure what exactly they could do. But he knew they would have to do something.

A look around. We will not have a distraction. But what we will have is two groups. One to help the moms and babies. One to stand guard all around.

He studied the wolves in front of him and nodded his head. Lafayette, Shadess, Aiolos and Rodyn. You will go in among the mothers and children. This way at least they have familar faces. Soharr, Cygnet, Arrluk and I will stand guard. We will spread out and do our best. Remember silence is key here. We do not want them to know we are here. This way we have an easier time of it getting everyone out safely.

pale ears flicked at the interplay between rodyn and solharr, but that would be all.

the swiftcurrent girl was silent. the seawolves spoke in turn. 

aiolos. arrluk. arric.

her ears listened, but when the creekwolf spoke of mothers, moonwoman straightened. "let them come to me."

they were prizes to rough men. kukutux did not promise a fight, but she was more than able to carry a child away or guide a mother upon those tiny paths running all through coastline and wilderness.
